Thanks Raiden! The only tools I'm currently using are a Dremel, a drill, some sandpaper and files. I trace the stock scale for hole placement, shape, etc. I drill the holes first. I use a dremel to shape the outside of the scale. Lastly, after I'm sure all the holes line up ok I use a dremel to do the texturing and maybe use some sandpaper to smooth out any rough spots...that's pretty much it.
Thanks! Those colors do pop on this knife....my inspiration were the Cuscadi scales that I bought for my SAK in the same color combo
I'm thinking of getting another Persistence to make some custom translucent green scales for. They're fun little knives...and affordable!
It can be a little tricky, but not too difficult. I did screw up another knife blade before doing the Persistence, so you may want to practice on a knife you don't care about first. There are some good videos on youtube for tips. Also, make sure you get yourself some diamond files....good luck!
Thank you for the info! You've inspired me to give this a try (not that I have any illusions that my results will match yours ). Can easily see how it would be difficult to stop once you've had a taste of results such as yours.
He misterS. I followed your work on your EDC-thread and must repeat me: Great , fantastic , very awesome +1 Keep up the good work !!! Love it.
I'm going to give this a try. I was flip flopping on if I could do it or not but you encouraging words makes me think i can. Thanks for the nudge misterS.
What kind of bits do you use to shape the scales? Are you cutting with a bit (what type of bit if so) or sanding or grinding?
REALLY like that orange Tenacious. Very cool pattern! Like the black/blue one as well. Super cool lookin.
Those look great! You should try some BM Griptilian scales. I would carry my 550 MUCH more frequently if it had better handle scales on it!
