After my soon to be 13 daughter saw the one I made for her mom she as not stopped saying that she wishes some awesome guy would make her something like that..... DONE! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Since my last post, I have been busy with other things and have done a few more tags similar to the ones I have posted already. However, I have been experimenting more with copper etching. I have letter and number stamps as well as the fleur de lis stamp, but wanted to do more. So here is my latest tag using both stamps and etching. I think this is my new favorite. The etching is getting better with the more I do.
So the basic shaping free hand with a bench grinder I have gotten a handle on...next I think I better practice letter spacing and placement. Maybe after that I'll think about trying to get fancy like you boys.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks Bubba. Apparently it is a hit. She wore it to school both days since I gave it to her, and she said her friends really liked it. When multiple 15 year old girls approve, you got it licked.
I knew I shouldn't have looked at this thread! I now want one but don't have the tools, punches or pipe.....must think of a way to work round this. Hey-ho...off for therapy now.
So the daughter says to me this morning that her "sister" aka grace our 3 year old lab/pointer mix, is the only girl in the house without a copper tag.... Off to the shop we go for some father daughter tool time.... I am without a doubt a very very blessed man! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Very cool! Am I right thinking that you ground down the surface to get the end effect? Sent from my SCH-R950 using Tapatalk
I'm going to have dig into my shop (chip through the ice) and aquire some pipe..... This is a really cool project. Ya'll are great inspiration...THANK YOU!
I recently make necklace for my son, a simple shield with his initials and a cross. Well, as 13 year old kids do, he went to school and showed it to his friend. He came home that night and told me that his friend really wanted one. I figured what the heck, anytime you can get a 13 year old boy interested in wearing a cross, you should capitalize on the interest. So I made one for his friend, a slightly different shape, but the same basic idea. Well, they both showed it to another friend, and so I have another one to make.... Here is the one that I am sending to school with him tomorrow for his friend. Maybe if I cover all of his friends with shield/cross necklaces the group will stay out of trouble through high school....gonna need bigger medals.... Thanks for reading RLN
