I'm always torn between collecting flashlights by a single brand or by a single battery type. Maybe it's just a weird ocd thing of mine, but do any of you do this?

Whatever floats your boat... that's the beauty of collecting!

I try to buy users and end up with the collection.

For me the AA light is the most useful in general but just like any other tool there is the correct one for a job and a lot of different jobs for sure.

None of mine get to sit "Collected" by design........my design at least!

That's my goal. Most all my purchases are based on performance, although I do have a few copper flashlights for fondling. I own about 50 flashlights and use them. I know people who collect flashlights that look better than jewelry!

I use to, but not anymore. Not after I started buying ones that use CR123 & 18650. Now I just make sure I have batteries of all kinds on hand.

Probably 90 per cent of all of my light purchases consist of 18650 lights, these days - even for EDC use. It's my favorite performing battery. I don't care about the bulk. I want the high performance.

But I do still own about 40 lights that are not 18650, and rarely use them, by comparison.

Since 2016 every light I've purchased have been AA, and Thrunite. All batteries, rechargeable Eneloops. I really have no desire to be a "collector" of flashlights (although by some people's standards, I do have a bunch of them). I went this route based on ease of use. My simple needs are more than amply met by these, and I have never been more satisfied with my flashlights, or more apt to use them.

I'm going to borrow that line from you.

"I'm not a collector, I just have a bunch of them."

    Totally love it!!!
