    Hello everyone

Showing off my "Valentine's day gift". My dad was cleaning out his tool box today and I pointed out he had a case that said Leatherman on it. He pulled it out to show to me; I was amazed as it looked perfect, he claims it was never used.

He gave it to me as a gift and I couldn't be more grateful. However, I would love to know what the name of this certain tool is. It was bought around 1995 or so.

Don't really care about how much its worth, just the name of it please, thank you!

Mid 90s PST, yep. I have an early nineties one I found in an antique shop that's in lightly used condition. The leather sheaths from these era PSTs are few and far between. You can tell the dates by the different ways letterman used to mark the inches and centimeters on the outside. They didn't start using the date stamps inside the housings until much later.

Yup PST, Great tool! I carried mine for over 10 years, from my early teens on up, used and abused. Super sturdy tool too, mine still looks 90% immaculate and pristine like that one even after all the $%*^&@ I did with it. Still got the sheath too, those early LM sheaths are bomb proof!

I've noticed :D My dad did have another one of these which was used a ton, but he can't find it.

The funny thing is this is my first Leatherman multi-tool but I will probably never use it.. ;)

The PST was a brilliant piece of engineering but for me the best original multi tool was the first super tool.

    This thing could do anything!

I finally retired my PST and carry a Kick currently. Wish the Kick had the file.

Totally agree. My first was a PST, liked the idea more than the tool, but what really sold me on Leatherman was the Super Tool with locking blades, liking it so much I was willing to overlook the awkward and unsafe implement unlocking method. Carried it for 9 years, got great service before replacing it with later Leathermen with improved function, but none better made and they got the tool mix just right. I still have the thing and occasionally pick it up for a quick fondle. When folding a blade, I remind myself why I retired it and put it away until next time.

What is the un locking mechanism on the super tool?

And, those of you with dated PSTs, is the date the same from one side to the other?
Just curious, mine is dated 0298 in one handle, and 0398 in the other. Its just the randomness of what part they grabbed during assembly, but it is interesting. I never knew they were dated before this thread.

One of my newer tools had almost a year between one side and the other, can't remember which one.

The tools on the original supertool were like the lobes on a cam shaft. Once one tool was locked open you had to open another tool to lift the lock and free the first tool..... it was really smart and stupid at the same time.

Crappy IPhone pic of a Supertool purchased for $30 at a local flea market. The tools are very stiff and there isn't a scratch on it. Not NIB but its mint.

Still has the sticker on the handle. No production date so it was made '92 or earlier?
