At the cost and scarcity of ammunition I have been reluctant to do as much shooting as I want to. After reading a lot on some of the other forms I ordered a Beeman p17 single shot single pump pneumatic air pistol. They are $33 shipped on Amazon it shoots around 400 ft per second and is an absolute blast. I can shoot out of my garage facing towards the rear of the house. At 10 meters I can hit 1/10 silhouette targets pretty regularly including the chicken that is about the size of a quarter or smaller. This gun is low powered enough that a box stuff tightly with newspaper would stop it. It is very accurate decent trigger and just a blast to shoot. $33 for the handgun $5 for the silhouette targets and I can target shoot in the backyard for an hour for 50 cents worth of pellets.

Been using my old Ben Franklin 312 in .22 to teach my boys on our property. Quiet enough that the neighbors aren't bothered and accurate enough for them to bet their nighty dinner deserts on. I've seen some people on Utah Gun Exchange offering .22 rimfire ammo for $.50 a round or trades (round for round) for centerfire handgun ammo! Pure larceny at its saddest.

I've been using my Beeman Webley tempest for years now for cheap indoor practice. Now with he pandemic and ammo shortage, I've been doing a lot of airgun practice. Trigger time is still trigger time when you practice the Holy Trinity of Sight picture, breath control, and trigger squeeze.

Buddy, if you want cheap trigger time, get yourself a Red Ryder BB gun. BB's are insanely cheap, and the lever action of the Res Ryder allows you to shoot fast. It's super fun for soda can plinking.

Red Ryder BBguns are cheap too.

You can soend a little.extra and get the Model 25 if you want a shotgun-style pump action, but honesty they both have their charms and you can get them both for under 100 bucks.

I fur trap here on the farm and use a pellet rifle to dispatch animals. I do carry something bigger for backup. Once walked up on a coyote that thought my coon was gonna be an easy meal. Sure wouldn't want to face that with a pellet gun.
