hey guys im looking for a knife for around 30 bucks. the reason Im going cheap is because i will be using it for a few weeks then traveling back home on an airplane with only a carry on. Im not checking any luggage. So i will be likely not making it back home with me. i prefer folding.

Kershaw tremor if you want a bigger folder. Assisted opening and blade that is just shy of 4". Think I paid $19.99 at a discount sporting goods store for mine.

I vote for the Ontario Rat II. Around $30 and a great EDC knife for the money.

gerber eab like in my profile pic. (i gave up trying to post pics) they come in at around $10.00 and when I am forced to travel, just hand it to someone and tell em' to keep it. I'm starting to see them in hardware stores up here now.

Used Victorinox SAK from eBay, <$10. Many of these were previously confiscated by the TSA, so it's a "circle of life" thing. ;)

A used SAK from Evilbay is a good way to go. I've done rely well.

    very good Climber $3
Almost new huntsman with onyx scales $15
    Excellent tinkerer $5
    Early 1980's craftsman excellent+ $10

You just have to know what you're biding on.

Or you get yourself 3 to five (up to the deal you get) Sanrenmu 710 and bring with you at least 2 very useful presents ;)
Oh, maybe you tell us a bit about what you want to do with it and where you want to go (knife laws, maybe you must consider a friction folder or no one hand opening).

You didn't mention how you were buying - I'm a big fan of the CRKT M16 series of knives. Some are over your budget, some are near, and some are under, but I've never had one fail on me yet.

Why not get a pre-paid postage, padded envelope and just mail the knife home?

    Two suggestions:
    • Buck Vantage Select Small: Small, lightweight, decent build quality and a great heat treatment
    • Opinel #6 in carbon steel: Lightweight, razor sharp and a true classic.

I would say an Opinel, Svord, Kershaw Crown, SAK, heck any of these are good choices.
I would also ship the knife home to myself at the end of the excursion.
