I taught myself. I don't know how long it took for me to get the basics down but I can assure you my playing hasn't advanced much since then

Since I have no idea what he sounds like at least I couldn’t service such requests anyway. But I heard that’s nothing to be sorry about. :mask:

How do you shoot a SMG in semi-auto? Isn't it very slow?

Well it's as fast as you can pull the trigger.
Fully automatic is restricted in the state I live in, and very expensive in the states that aren't.

One of the first modifications the US Military made to the M16 rifle was to reduce the full-auto capability to three-round burst. They found it impractical in an infantry rifle to have soldiers emptying magazines with a single trigger pull when only the first few were on target anyway. I never went to combat, but served in the infantry in peacetime. We trained all the time, and there was only one application (entering a room) where we trained using three-round burst. On the range, with the M240B machine gun (the FN MAG), when I was supposed to fire six to nine round bursts, I found myself breaking those down into two or three shorter bursts for better control. Full-auto is really only practical for area suppression, which isn't something an individual has any use for (without coordination with a flanking unit, it does nothing) and is very expensive. If I owned a select-fire MP5 (drool), I would basically always shoot it on semi anyway, myself.

With my insanely giant biceps and forearms, I would fire in short bursts too. I couldn't control anything holding down my trigger finger for the duration of the magazine. As much as I'd like to think I could.

Got some coloured o-rings and a few misc beads today. I'll see what I can come up with.

Those spaghetti hoops may have passed their best before date...
    :)

    Are they purely for decoration?

Spaghetti hoops are not consumable at the best of times.

Pretty much. Black o rings are so last week.
Also will have something in the post soon that they'll be used for adding grip on but I'm not sure they'll be big enough now I've got them. Good size for my little ThruNite lights though.

I instantly saw them as brightly colored gear silencers...

Or you could color coordinate for different events.

Like the blue ones for water related gear/activities, red ones for fire making stuff, etc.

As much as that is a genuinely good idea, I can't swim. So no blues for me!

Edit:- blue is my favourite colour (depending on the day) so blue will have to be "activities that take place in an environment with air"

err... I'm not trying to go off topic - but I'd learn to swim. Find a kiddie pool and practice.

A simple doggie paddle could save your life.

I can't remember a time when I didn't know how to swim. Florida, water n such...

That, or EDC floatie wings. You may get some odd stares.

reminds me of Tool. 'learn to swim, learn to swim, learn to swim'

I mean, I can go in a pool and not drown. But that's not really the same thing as swimming.

I know, I am ashamed of myself!

Yes learn to swim, I have, here's my story.

Our Scout group had four successful applicants to go on Jamboree in Japan last July. In our Scout group we raise the money for each to go and we had over £13,000 to raise. So we had a meeting and came up with various ways to raise the funds. At 50 I was a sad to say a none swimmer, I never got on with lessons and never really tried over the years. When I say none swimmer I mean not a single stroke.

So I took to the pool with an instructor one to one. I set myself the goal of completing a sponsored swim giving myself a year. November 2014 the year was up and I managed to raise just short of £900 by swimming 64 lengths of a 25m pool which is equal to 1 mile .

Still pleased with myself, it showed me, and more importantly the Scouts within the group, that by setting a goal and putting your mind to it you can always, and at any age learn something new.

Now I can enjoy a swim, and more importantly swim with my kids.

Seriously find an instructor and go for it. Perhaps even think of your favourite charity and have that in mind as your goal. I was a little scared at first, scared of letting myself and others down and yes scared of the water. But with a good instructor you'll soon over come any fears. Never be ashamed of something you simply can't do, do something about it.

Should add I was learning on a Saturday morning, loads of people watching their kids having lessons. At first I looked like I was drowning, LOL ! But you'd be amazed at the people who came up and said good on you for learning. Also the amount people who can't swim but still take their kids to lessons. Or the amount of swimmers who looked and said They could swim but couldn't swim that far. I'm not that fit too, I walk a lot but I'm around 1 - 1 1/2 stone overweight. I suppose it's my don't given in attitude!

Come on, Phelps. Put down the reefer.

Get it together. We got games to win.

I have very bad ears and am forced to carry/wear plugs if I want to submerge myself and really frolic.

Otherwise I tend to keep my head above water. It won't kill me but at a certain depth the pressure becomes uncomfortable and ear infections are terrible things to fight off.

At least you can tread water and get to the edge of the deep end.....seriously.
