Hey All- I'm posting to give a heads up that I'll be doing a Give-A-Way here in my sub forum some time in the next week or two. I've been making carry stuff since 2010 and am excited about this new piece. I'm calling it the UltraLink. It's a belt mounted quick release...visit my sub-forum to learn more bout it Link in my sig line.
I carry keys from the belt loop on my pants using a slide lock S-biner from Nite Ize. Works great. L'chaim! Moshe ben David
I like my sailor halyard clips, one small, two others from USCG ships, but now, just an EDC REAL min.....
I really like those brass sailor snaps for belt loop carry as well. Especially when paired with a bunch of brass gear. I even had a spare set of keys all made from brass blanks to go on that set up.
I guess I’ve used a carabiner & belt loop the longest of anything I’ve tried. For a time recently I used a key wallet from Duluth. I loved the leather carry but it was a pain getting them out all the time and in the end I went back to carabiner carry...that is, until I made my first UltraLink .
By key wallet do you mean something like this: I didn't see anything like this on the Duluth site just now so I looked on Amazon. When I was growing up we used things like this; not all were zipped close by the basic idea was the same. Some were not nearly as robust as this one; getting keys into them were indeed a PIA! I use a Hero's Pride quick-release for belt-carry. One of the best I've found. Solid ballistic-cloth, and heavy-duty snaps.
Heres a shot of the integral belt clip It doesn't work with a pinch point, rather it's that spur keeps it from slipping off.
This is the "Standard" version. The difference is that this one comes with 7075T61 core and clip, as opposed to the 100% titanium unit.
Just announced the live campaign in my sub forum. Wish me luck! Here's a final pic of some samples I sent out today.
Here is another variation on the theme. This bronze/brass/ti unit attaches not with a clip but rather with a leather strap. My thinking is that it is more versatile that way, even if it eliminates the high ride characteristic which I like so much. I imagine this would be more useful to people like my wife, who carry their keys on their bag...and don't wear belts anyway
@Gamble: your stuff looks very nice and I really do wish you great success. But shouldn't you be posting in the forum 'Craftsman's Corner'? Moshe ben David
Thanks, I’m not sure. This isn’t a sales thread, but that’s why my op directed people to my subforum. So that the conversation could be had there. The problem is that no one ever visits or posts in the corner. A little outreach to a sympathetic forum didn’t really feel like an infraction to me, but if a mod thinks I’m out of line I’m sure they will say so.
