I'm not sure what you mean by a "Klean Kanteen flip lid" - you mean that plastic lid that has a metal ring on top? That can flip up or down as needed?

How do the Swell bottles handle condensation in the summer?

Anybody know of a glass water bottle that is similar to the glasstic bottles but offers diffrent sizes? Wife is looking for a smaller 12oz bottle for the kids. She does not trust plastic and says she can taste steel. We have several glasstic bottles and LOVE them (just for around the house, we don't hike or camp) and she prefers water at room temp. I myself wouldn't mind a 24 or 32oz version myself so I am not getting up to refill it as much as I do.

    LifeFactory (Amazon)
    Takeya (Reuseit)

No personal experience, but a good starting point to look.

EtA: The Contigo glass water bottle also looks intriguing. Only comes in 20 oz though.

    Thanks.

Sorry, I should have specified further, looking for one that has a plastic outer shell like the glasstic as opposed to the silicone sleeve. Pure water bottles are the closest I have found but do not have a sleeve just a coating that is supposed to keep the glass together when it breaks. The kids are 2 1/2 and 4 so when they drop it we don't want glass everywhere.

The nice thing about glasstic is that we can replace the glass bottle for $10 instead of buying a whole new bottle. The flip lid works well and has a lock.

Ahh, gotcha. Yeah, that's why I'm not a big fan of glass.

    Good luck!

Latest round of CapCap-like bottles: The Nathan "X-shot" series. The Big Shot, the Double Shot, the Shaker Shot...they went all out with the theme. A friend brought one to work and I'm intrigued enough to pick one up for myself.

Anyone know if someone out there makes a wide-mouth cap (Capcap-sized) that has hose barbs on the inside and out?

I'm looking to add a Berkey water bottle filter to a "standard" quart Nalgene bottle. The inside tube goes down to the filter, the outside tube serves as a straw. I can get a panel-mount double hose barb that would work, but a pre-made cap would be nicer.

EDIT: This might work (ordered one to try):

EDIT (again): The above sippy cap (HydroFlask Straw Lid), while very nice, does not fit on a "standard" wide-mouth Nalgene bottle. Right size, wrong thread.

In a depressing twist, the Nathan *Shot lids won't fit a standard Nalgene, although a Nalgene standard will fit the Nathan.

These might be the solution to caps for the KK wide-mouth bottles.

Although, the drinking port has a cover that slides right off. I for see lawsuits in Nathan's future.

I've just pulled the pin on the KK 40oz wide mouth. Out of interest does anyone know if the nalgene splashguard will fit that bottle?

If the nalgene splash guard fit inside, I don't have one. I am running a Capcap on my KK.

Does anyone know of a third party filter that works in the Hydro Flask 40oz? Reviews of the revolve filter aren't great at all. If I can't find a filter that works I'll just have to get a Camelbak.

Edit: Or is there one that will work with the flip cap lid after some modification?

Hi all. Just stopping in to say hello. I don't buy too many new bottles these days, so this thread doesn't get a ton of action anymore.
My standard daily carry for the last few years has been a 21oz standard mouth Hydroflask, with a Klean Kanteen Sport Cap 3.0. It can leak ever so slightly from the vent hole when lying on it's side, but for the most part has been quite excellent. It's just too convenient, and too comfortable to drink from anything else.
I now bring a 32oz wide mouth Hydroflask to work everyday, filled with coffee. It transports with the standard lid. Then I change to the Hydro Flip for drinking. I was using an insulated Klean Kanteen, but really wanted more coffee, so the Hydroflask got the nod.
Outdoor use is in a possible state of transition. I still love the Nalgene/Guyot with capCAP combo, especially when mated with GSI Glacier 18oz Stainless Steel Bottle Cup. But I did just buy a GI style stainless steel canteen, with matching cup and old surplus canteen pouch. I'll give it a few test runs and see how I like it.

Oh... Oh... You need the little stove that goes around the canteen now! :p

I'd love to get that, but I'm totally confused about the fit of the little stove. Does anybody know if the stove fits the "GI style" stainless steel cup like this:

and will the whole set still fit inside of the GI issue canteen cover?

From what I remember the stove fits on the bottom of the cup, although it was a tight squeeze to get the combo back into the cover. I think the new nylon covers are designed to fit the whole package though.

I played around with the concept a few years ago.... annoying ...to feed little sticks into the stove. I had the brilliant idea to use coals. The cup fell off into the fire.. I could put the cup straight into the coals..... duh.

I think it might fit. I use the Nalgene version. Not sure about that cover
