Aside from the stainless, is the Harpy a better buy? I have an opportunity to buy a new Tasman for a good price. What would you do if money were a factor and the knife will be used rarely?

If cost is a strong consideration then go with the best deal. Either model would serve you well.

Tasman...nothing beats being able to take your knife swimming without it rusting.

Tasman - for the ease-of-care it provides.

Tasman. I do not like slippery SS handles

Either are really awesome. It's really up to you if you prefer stainless handles or FRN handles. Besides that, the difference is negligible, although if you are a scuba diver the Tasman will be obviously a better choice given its rust-proofness.

I'm a big fan of FRN but stainless is nice and it's always nice to feel a shiny lump of metal in your pocket.

Thanks to all. I have decided to forego the knife in favor of a new camera.

That wasn't a choice. Go back and buy the knife!
