Screw it, this has been in my head every second since I watched the video, I'm gonna take the plunge on a full sized LM and I'm thinking some kydex sheets on the side…I've never worked with it but I'll give anything a go once! Anyone made a fully functioning one yet? Not that I'm saying the cardboard model isn't built like a tank of course

Yeah, I think I'll be too self-conscious to wear my Wave in a piece of dingly, homebent aluminum (unless I can get one signed by Mr.Savage), something with more finesse - Ti or matching stainless steel - will be more appropriate.

Surely it'd have to have pretty spot on tolerances to stop it clanging about in there? Metal doesn't seem like it'd be massively forgiving.

Perhaps, lining the inside with felt would solve the problem?

seeing the HAIL + STYLE® PS and JAM + STYLE® PS combos, maybe LM is working on more carrier devices... a pop-up would be most appreciated.

You know what, there's a concept in the back of my mind somewhere, based loosely on AMK SOL Origin - a kind of otterbox that has external pop-out removable knife, multitool, etc., integrated electronics (rugged cell/satphone/distress signal with a foldout solar cell), water purification filter and also some storage space for loose sundry stuff.
I, for myself, refer to this concept as a "drone" - influence from Ian Banks" Culture SF series.

I would love this case for when im in the garage or crawling under cars. Cement is hard on nylon and leather sheaths.

If one was to make a dozen or so of these holsters out of stainless or Ti sheet, what would you feel is an appropriate price to sell them for? I don't own a Wave currently, but is that the one that is most popular? I'd only be making them for one style of Leatherman.

Well naturally all of us who want one would chime in and say for free ;) however, don't let anyone dictate the price of your craft to you. Charge what you feel is fair for the quality of work. Figure out how much raw materials are, how many man hours go into them, then work it out from there :)

Knocked together a prototype. Took me 15 minutes or so.

It's a little roomy for my Surge, the protruding blades may spoil a tight fit. Does the Wave has this?
I measured nothing, took a piece of alu, which was bent, bashed it straight-ish. Laid the LM on it and made some marks. Used the box brake (Adam and I have the same model. I feel proud.) Bashed it some more and there you have it.

Next time I must make the whole a bit tighter and guess how much I must compensate for the bend radius. And measure it all out properly. :D
And the belt loop need to be fixed. I'll think of something.

    Well, also think about this.
He was using the Wave. Most peeps nowadays use the newer Wave (post 2004), but he did say he has been carrying one for a long time.
I carry the Original Wave (better IMO, at least for me), and the old one is smaller, and the blades do not protrude out as much as on the newer one.
The Original Wave was discontinued in 2004, so he probably is carrying the newer one.
The old one also has a few other differences.
I'll watch the video again and see if I can tell which one.

EDIT: Yup, it's definitely the new Wave.

I imagine this would be significantly easier to make out of kydex. I should have a go at it when I get some free time.
