    Some new input :)
I made these today.... Brass in the middle and aluminum outside. Not the best combi for long spin.
second is titanium in the middle and brass ring. This spins much better!

8:29 is my best spin with my Prometheus Lambda, and that's after some practice and with the recommended concave shaving mirror (which corrals the top, makes it work just about anywhere, and of course provides a marvelously smooth spinning surface).

The maker lists 6 minutes as the starting point (not much effort needed), 8 as requiring some practice and a good surface, and 10+ as needing a great surface and great technique, so I'm gunning for the 10-minute mark.

I love this top. Well worth what it costs, and great to fiddle with. Mine has a stainless bearing; the "core" model has a synthetic ruby bearing. I chose based on durability.

that top looks like you might be able to make it out of some washers from an angle grinder and some decorative nuts. im not quite sure hot to get the point or the rounded bottom.

My Lawson EDC copper top came yesterday and I already have a few hours of spin on it. 7:17 is the best I've managed so far, but my technique is lacking. A little concave shaving mirror is a must to extend spin times and keep the top in-place. Fun little toy that will no doubt occupy space on my desk at the office.

My best spin so far is a little over 10 minutes with this solid brass top that I made.

It's running on a tungsten carbide bearing and has a hollow stem to keep the weight low.

Or there's this one with a tritium vial in the stem running on a silicon nitride bearing which got me an 8 minute spin earlier today (again made by me)

I'm hooked on spinning tops at the moment - made a few in the past, but I've made 4 in the last two days and they're so much fun! (P.S. I have some I've made up for sale at the moment. Link is in my profile)
