I've got the same boot in the six inch upper and love them to pieces. Most comfortable boot I own for actually working, only surpassed for walking all day on concrete by Doc Martens with added shock absorbing insoles. The Maxwear wedge is shockingly resilient for as comfortable as it is, too. Mine have held up very well for many, many miles walking. I just took delivery of a new pair of William Lennon 78 Tug of War boots custom modified with steel taps on heel and toe and a rubber half sole on top of the double leather soles already in place. They're a nightmare to break in so far, but they hold some promise of being amazing do-all boots.
@thatotherguy How did you find the fit? I typically wear a 9D in sneakers and 8.5 in most leather work boots I've tried. I went with 8EE (wide) with these Thorogoods as the 8.5D was a bit narrow and rather uncomfortable near the front sides where all of the stitching is. The 8.5EE was a bit too long yet come comfortable in width. I fear that once the leather stretches it may be too wide. Also, any issues with the gusseted tongue? I am trying to get it to lay just right and be comfortable when fully laced. Any break in tips? They are almost too nice to use as intended.
I'm a 9D in most shoes and bootd and got these in an 8.5D. Width and length is comfortable, and they started out just the slightest smidge snug in the width and broke in perfect. For the tongue, just use your fingers to make sure it's folded flat when you lace it up and wait. It will become comfortable, but it's something you'll have to get used to and let break in. Aside from that, keep some of your favorite leather conditioner around and give em a conditioning every couple of months, and be careful walking on an incline in mud or snow- the tread on the wedge is not sufficient in those conditions and without due care, you'll wind up skating.
@karlito This is what theyll look like after a lot of use, several conditionings, and wet with morning dew, just to give you something to look forward to... these are mine. Forgive the poor pic, I'm in the office.
Been wearing Belleville 790s for College. Military boot, but oh so warm and comfortable. Gore Tex lining, made in the USA. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks, I was lucky enough to spot it on eBay long time ago...I think it's an old piece. I sent it away to Equus Leather to have a belt made for it Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
GORUCK MACV-1 are my work boots. Super plain yet durable jungle boot based of the original army jungle shoe. Again very plain jane but quality materials. Not a rugged heavy hiker but the most comfortable boot you'll ever wear. (Read the website article, highly recommended)
