It's too bad they stopped making the Stafford Deacon boot.

Care to share your methods? I got a pair of Iron Rangers for Christmas and am still wearing them around the house. I bought the Red Wing leather care kit but am uncertain if I should apply of the products now or later. At this point, they're a miserable feeling pair of boots, LOL.

Applying the treatment now won't hurt. In fact, probably better to apply than not depending on how hard you plan on wearing them. I use the following steps:

    1. I use a horse hair brush to knock off the dust
    2. I mix some dish detergent with some baking soda & clean them real good with a microfiber towel
    3. I use a heat gun to help dry the boots which also warms/opens the leather for step 4.
    4. While the leather is warm, I liberally apply Huberd's Shoe grease with my hand making sure I cover every nook & cranny
    5. After the boots have absorbed the grease, I wipe off the excess with a slightly damp microfiber towel
    6. Buff with the towel and a horse hair brush

Works for me. After you have put some time into wearing the red wings, they will become very comfortable and one with your feet. Just make sure you put the time into them and they will treat you right. Good luck

Here's a pic of them when they were new.

Would you ever consider wearing your Iron Rangers for extended periods of time on your feet?

I'm a long time boot wearer and I'm contemplating whether these would be feasible to wear to a theme park after about five more weeks of break in. I'm not used to this kind of insole

Extended periods of time, no problem. I wear my Irons Rangers about 4 days a week in the winter months and on those days, about 10-12 hours indoors and outdoors.

My rangers have been through the hills and hollers with no problems, especially once they were broken in.

I am in Wolverine Wellington’s and wear them 8-10hours a day all week long. They get a good cleaning at least once a month and a good rub down with mink oil. I’ve never owned a pair of leather boots that didn’t get polished or oiled on a regular basis. They look better, last longer, and feel better on my feet.

The big ones ... size 14.
Someone asked me if I can walk over water with them or if I use them to stop forest fires :D

5.11 ATacs. These are by far the most comfortable boots I've ever owned. I highly recommend them.I walked over four miles a day in them last summer.
