Umm, wearin' a pair of AllSaints today...Chillaxing, drinking ice cold suds Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
Currently working on wearing out the sole on my Thorogoods. For a Christy type sole, these wedges are remarkably durable.
I’ve been wearing a pair of oak streets For maybe 2 years... and they have been excellent. I think I posted in this same thread when I first got them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
A set of custom made Red-wings are my work-boot of choice! Once broken in they are incredibly comfortable, offer great protection with thick leather, and my set has a fiberglass shank which is fantastic when I am up on a ladder for any extended period of time (I had to get them custom ordered to get them blacked out for theater). My daily boots however are a set of Timberland work boots with composite toes, also quite comfortable, but the leather is thinner, they don't have a proper sole shank, don't offer as much support and wear out much faster (But they did cost a third as much!)
^^ I've never understood these type of boots- with the strap across the instep. Doesn't it interfere / restrict with the tendon at the top of the foot near the ankle curve? I have issues with that area on my lace up boots and often have to skip the eyelets in that area to make them comfortable as I walk. couldn't imagine a strap. Apparently it works for some.
Well its the only spot where you can properly fix your heel down in the boot properly so you can walk with em without slipping in and out all the time. Low/ankle boots need it more than full height boots. If you have a very high instep you might need special footwear, leaving eyelets unused isn't very good for your shoes.
Just got me a pair of Aztec crazy horse Dr Martens 1460 today. I usually wear hiking shoes, even at work, but being quality manager and getting older got me to something more "professional"... Got a pair of 501s to wear with them. Feel like I'm 15 again
Nothing like a pair of DMs! And the crazy horse leather seems pretty nice. I just bought a pair of 1461s in gaucho CH, and it seems like good stuff. It is at least as thick as the regular smooth DM leather, but much softer. I hope it will keep up better over time, without developing those cracks that eventually mean the end of a pair of DMs. Anyway, it is certain to develop some sort of patina over time. It should be interesting to watch.
I just ordered saddle soap, mink oil and brushes to make them last longer. Hope it'll do the trick. And I see a pair of IR boots in a not so far future...
