Summer boot... Danner Mountain Trail Left Bank in Horween Chromexcel. These don't have Gore-Tex like the regular Mountain Trails. They are fully leather lined so they make a perfect summer boot. The only complaint I have about them is the Vibram Gumlite sole, it wears super fast. I've had them 2 years s and they already need re-soled. I'm thinking about going with a different Vibram sole this time.

Winter boot... Danner Trophy 10" Gore-Tex with 600 gm Thinsulate. These have the Danner Bob sole. Some people complain that it wears fast, but they have lasted longer than my Gumlites. They are usually only worn in snow and muck though.

Almost identical to the jungle boots made by converse in WWII and given to Merrill Maurauders. My father in law brought back a pair from Burma.

Palladiums, and the French desert boot they're based off, are IMO the best hot weather booties available. Currently got a knock off pair (Decathalon) that are almost almost as good.

Nice, I certainly wore a good number of those during my 20 year military career.

Hanwag Waxstein for hiking and woodsing about, wintertime i usually rock a pair of rust/coyote/not-yellow 6" timbs.

The Hanwags fit nice from start, i've only done short-range (5-7 km) hiking on with those so they havent loosened all that much but no blisters or pinching. Old foot injury acts up a little but thats mostly muscular soreness and i think as soon as the sole eases up a little they could even work in a daily winter rotation.

The timbs felt like wearing the lovechild of a brick and a crab at first: took a season to break in, then one more season before i started liking them for more than 10 minutes at a time. Third season around was a lot better.
They're mild mannered now, even enjoyable at some point, but I'd have to be a true masochist to buy a pair of timberland boots again.

Honestly, I have owned just about every tactical boot or hiker out there. I put them through real hard use. Many in very crappie conditions or harsh environments. For regular Hiking or daily wear the best I have ever had were and are ASOLO. They break in quick most are pretty light to med weight. GORTEX, and comfortable if you are on your feet 12 + Hours. Pair them with a Smart who'll sock and it's cherries.
For a black patrolling boot, if it's urban I go under armor, If it's serious black duty boots or For a black heavy use payroll or combat with cooler conditions or hard urban environment Traditional 10 or 12 inch DANNER. Just not for hot weather.
A close second to ASOLO IS THE Solomon boot. I don't remember the particular name but it's a black and green Backpacking hiking type boot.
Hot weather I am a fan of converse tan although I don't mind the Oakley, but it didn't last too long. I am trying a underarmour light weight hot weather boot. so far so good
