I appreciate that idea and detailed description! I've read a lot of mixed opinions about the bathtub method with some people swearing it works great and some swearing it will mess up your boots. I'm not too worried about it messing up my boots but after wearing my boots for two full days and an hour or so every night they've softened up enough that they don't hurt to wear. They're still not comfortable, but I can see them getting there with regular wear so I think I'll just stick it out and break them in the old fashioned way :)

Whatever works. You have to be a special kind of dumb to stand in a bath tub and then walk 4 miles in combat boots anyway, and I'm not sure you're up to those standards ;)

Niceeeeee! The buckles may make a little noise as you walk, kinda like spurs -- it's pretty cool.

All y'all amaze me. Buying shoes or boots on line, without being able to examine them for rough spots inside (where pieces of leather were not finished smooth or were stitched roughly; not being able to try on (sizing on footwear is always approximate; it also depends so much on the geometry of the last vs the geometry of your foot; pressure points such as where the top 'collar' of the boot will bind on your ankle or foot; I could go on but you get the picture.

Don't know how you do it. But then I guess I'm lucky that there are B&M locations around where I can go in...

    L'chaim!

You make some great points, however if I hadn't had purchased via online I wouldn't have had access to over 90% of the shoes and boots I own now. They simply don't sell the majority of them where I live nor do they sell a good portion of what I own anywhere near where I live. However I've done a lot of research, established my size in a number of well known less expensive Lasts initially, conducted a lot of research, made sure I could return the more questionable or hard fitting Lasts, purchased from some very knowledgeable and helpful retailers, stuck to some of the easier fitting Lasts, and I've been rather lucky and extremely fortunate to have a pretty average size feet. All in all considering my passion for nice footwear I have no complaints. But your right I've seen a number of people who have not nearly been as fortunate as myself.

I'm amazed at how perfectly they fit. They were unbelievably hard to get on the first few times but after a few days they feel great.

Thank you sir. Actually due to the commando sole and other things I consider these to be less dress and more casual.
