I've been wearing a pair of 5.11 Chukkas lately....they're not bad. I like the style better than I like those specific boots.

My work everyday boots: Salomon Quest 4D gtx Forces. Before I have used Oakley 6" assault boots and Haix Airpower pros. These goretex models are a bit warm but it's not a bad thing because winter is coming and they feel comfortable.

Someone mentioned that their boot laces were always breaking. Was that you ManVsLawn?

Just saw a show, All-American Makers, that had a product named Rhino Laces. Invented by two firefighters, the laces are said to be practically indestructible and fire resistant (or proof?)! Nylon sheath, aircraft cable, and a coating. They are available in different colors and lengths.

The show tested them with knife cuts, but a hedge trimmer did break them. So almost indestructible. But then the focus group could not tie them! So they reformulated, and now they say the can be tied by someone who isn't in Special Forces.

Google to buy from several sites, or if you go to the makers site rhinolaces[dot]com, there's a countdown deal where you get a discount if you order within 10 minutes of going to their site.

Perhaps a solution for the person who's laces kept breaking.

    Not me, miss Salsa!

I rarely have an issue with red wing laces. If I do happen to bust or cut one, I simply replace w paracord.

    neat product - thanks tho!

I thought I was the only one who did that.

Some shoelaces really are super cheap.

I admit I stole the idea from some TV survival show.

But paracord doesn't stay tied as well as red wing laces.

The laces themselves are pretty darn durable

Gutted paracord stays tied as well as any shoe laces I've used.

Also, following through the bite an extra time (double the last step) holds REALLY tight and still comes off just as easily.

I didn't gut mine. I will try that next time. thanks for the tip!

I always double knot, but I feel paracord is much more 'slippy' than my regular boot laces.

Maybe because paracord has that plastic feel/texture?

It is a bit slippy. Gutting it lets it hold better. And, I don't mean double knots, I mean literally sending the bunny ear through the same hole twice before you pull it tight. Holds almost as well as double knotted and comes off with a quick pull.

:censored: I use paracord also for my boots. I particularly like the green para. No problems with them staying tied. I double knot though.

As far as tying - I always teach barrel knotting. When wrapping the second bow, just pass arounf first loop twice, then through. Never slips! Old (and I mean old!) para jump trick.

I alternate between a pair of Marrell moab ventilators, and a pair of red wing irish setter trailblazers. Between those I have found the cover 95% of what I need to wear footwear for.

Just got these last week and after a weekend of hiking and hunting and MANY hours in the kitchen processing two deer I am very impressed with these. I believe they are the Reebok dauntless ultralights. Super light and comfortable and they have a side zip. It will take some time and abuse before I will give them a ringing endorsement but they have impressed me so far.
