I wanted some good durable boots to last a few years. I've been looking at these from BA Mason... Anyone ever worn these?

Looking for good recommendations especially since I wear a size 16D.

    THANKS!

Funny you bring this up. I've been thinking about a pair of solid boots myself. I walk a fair bit as part of my commute, so it's got to be as comfortable for walking as it is sturdy for working. I have a pair of L.L. Bean Katahdin Ironworks Engineer Boots that I like a lot when doing stuff in the yard, but walking a mile in them in the city isn't super fun.

Sometimes I think I should just buy a pair of Altamas again.

How are Dr Martens as of recent? I've been reading that since they started making everything in China that quality has dropped a lot??

I don't know yet. My last pair were made in the UK, and lasted for almost 13 years. My current pair are made in Vietnam (not China). I bought them just over a year ago, and they still look like new.

On the other hand, I know people who tore through their UK made Docs in less than a year. I guess climate, use and how you treat them play at least as big a role in how long they last as where they are made.

I have had these for about 2 years and they still look like new and I use them almost daily, They are the most comfortable shoes that I own. I like these so much I bought a second pair. I did have a pair of the regular high (army) type boots and they were very uncomfortable, not the bottom but the uppers were horribly uncomfortable. Wife had same problem with hers! We got rid of them. They say they need breaking in, I say those days of really having to break in shoes are gone, imo.
But this style is fantastic. I got my wife a pair of loafers and she loves them.

These are exactly the same I wear when not working, look good, feel great, and go with just about anything.

When working, either Danner USA made Rainer, Georgia Boots Thinsilate GoreTex, and waiting on my Red Wings GoreTex 13 EEE.

Exactly. The look better with age too. I wear them almost every day at work with khakis, or on the weekend with jeans

These look comfortable, are they waterproof and insulated? I bought some pair that looked similar, they were supposed to be waterproof...not.

Recently, big giant 8 inchers made by Keen. Best steel toes I ever wore. I have wide flippers. I have owned countless timbo pros, redwings, Chippewas, etc... The soft toe offerings are great, the Keens are the only saftey toe that doesn't hurt my feet. Super waterproof.

My favorite boot was called "Wafflestomper". The company was bought by New Balance and while I like NB shoes, the screwed up the last gen boots, and eventually discoed them. Dunham Wafflestompers. In 11 4E. In case any of you guys have a connection and are feeling generous. Lol.

I wear the Red Wing 4421 6 inch boot and they're great! My employer requires my boot to have toe and metatarsal protection in addition to an electrical rating and this boot satisfies all three and is very comfortable to wear. The only downside I would say is the amount of laces I've been through. Other than that, I have no complaints or issues.

I have two pairs of Danners that need resoled and daily is a pair of timberland steel toes that I think are fantastic. Cowboy boots are lucchese, resistol, and stetson.

I have been wearing Wolverine 2194 Hudson Steel Toes for the past 3 years.
I have put them through everyday use and through hell and back.
They have seen many a mud hole, many a rainy day, many a hunting trip, been completely frozen, been taken to place many would not venture, been worn while bike riding, been used during light running, been used for work, etc.
I have not seen a shoe hold up to more than these boots have. I still wear them and when they finally kick the dust, I will probably buy another pair of the same ones.
