just came across this little fixed blade

the design is nice, and I like the idea of interchangeable handle slabs
in fact, the whole concept, playing on the primitive, appeals to me, but I just can't justify the price...

    what do you think?

i think $189 MSRP is ridiculous for a piece of 440C. not a bad looking blade though.

A bit gimmicky.... it's not like you are going to be changing scales on an hourly basis. Just use hardware already.

It is a bit spendy for what it is. The Mosier would be better bang for the buck.

I wouldn't mind it, if only for simplicity's sake. But if I wanted something like that I'd just get a custom piece - for this much money, easily. And the extra slabs cost a fortune, too.

But Sam - you should not have brought up Mosier. There was one custom maker I was not aware of. I checked out his site, and now I'm hurting. Hurting bad :brickwall:

it just came to me - this is like a Tops Knives emulation from Boker. The style, the price (even higher than Tops), the surface treatment - not the steel though.

Fostering each other's gear lust... day by day, minute by minute. Yup.... that's the way we roll at the EDCF. :winkwink: :-X

Mr. Mosier does seems to like his swedges. I love the Furion. Wondering if it is a nod to the Chronicles of Riddick.

    ATB,
    Sam

P.S. A bit agressive for EDC and likely to put off the average office worker, but the Boker Mosier is a sweet knife at bargain price. I was lucky enough to snag one of the early stock orders.

I have no loves for that knife. Expensive, 'meh' blade material for price/market and small blade again for the market it seems be trying to fit in.

Mora Blades are going to have to go up in price. Oh, they'll probably have to spend an extra couple of bucks and compliment the expense with a sheath people actually want.

There's enough blades from China in 440C for that price I could probably a skid of blades.

well, no-one is forcing me to come here reading about gear...

yeah, with a Sandvik steel it costs as much as a spare handle slab for the Bender
    It's a no-brainer...
I like that Mosier, without the false upper edge it would almost look innocent and utilitarian. If you squint hard enough

Finishing up the blade to look primitive must be prohibitively expensive.
    I'll pass, thank you.

Steffenn Bender makes some really nice custom pieces
    http://www.messersyndikat.de/HP_Galerie_HTML/HP_Galerie.htm

The problem is that prices in general are way higher in Europe than in the US.
More expensive customs, more expensive series production.
This does not make it more viable, though. A shame, really.

The same is true of a lot of the Vox knives (Gnome, Rhino, Rold, Pry Mini, Pry Mate), making the Boker collaborations all the more attractive.

I like the idea, and the simplicity...but that price is insane. I'll stay with my stiff k.i.s.s., or Neckolas.

440C is an excellent blade steel with a proven record.

Still, a 3-inch bladed knife for nearly $200 from Boker is ridiculous.

knifecenter.com now has a price on this knife, measures in at $127.95
much better, but still overpriced in my opinion

Then almost 1/3 or 1/2 more if you want either the Green or Orange Micarta scales (which one assumes that one would as that is one of the distinctions of the knife). :eek:/
