Thank you, Stutz. That means a lot and we really appreciate you saying that. One of the reasons that this EPA change is impacting us the more than most brands has to do with the chemistry involved in the different spray patterns. Our research and experience from different fields prior to creating these sprays taught us a few things. 1) In I high stress situation, like during a struggle or an assault, trying to land an ocular hit was extremely difficult and 2) Almost all civilian pepper spray usage on record occurred within arms length. Based on our findings, we strongly feel that conical spray patterns are superior to the typical needle-like stream patterns found on virtually every civilian pepper spray. So we set out to created this product because we could not find an option that met our needs. In addition to the lack of conical options on the market, the cases and actuators on most of them got in the way of using the spray properly. That is why we carefully choose the components, too. (Detailed in the beginning of this thread.) Other companies will just start pushing the streams and gels sprays (even) harder, while some have and will continue to use inferior propellants and solvents that create an inferior product. Some will continue to use or turn to solvents that are believed to be potential carcinogens now that the previous 'gold standard' is no longer an option. We will never go that route. The silver lining for us is that this change has caused us to go back to the drawing board and create some 'new innovations' that coincide with what our initial research revealed. To not be beholden to the aerosol industry and to keep pushing the envelope. This has led us to develop a few different things that will (hopefully) contribute to better overall personal safety for everyone. Holliday
The original pepper spray mentioned at the beginning of this thread was a special run for EDCF over two years ago. We have a bunch of new personal safety and self-defense products that are in the final stages of testing. One will be the first of its kind and it is tentatively scheduled to hit the market early 2017. Please contact me at blurdefenseproducts@gmail.com for more information and thanks for the interest.
