Its designed well, that is for sure. But man, they need an option for just the tool without the sheath and get the price down a bit.

I would not carry my TPT without a sheath. I have never used the fork blade.

Tried the Screwpop Utility knife and did not like the rattle or feel of the knife in my pocket.

Another similar product is the Scout Compact Utility Knife which is in the Rexford price range over $100. The Scout has a pocket clip as an option for carry.

I agree 100%. I can't imagine the crappy fork thing or the sheath or lanyard cost too much, but at 65 bucks, this is no cheap little tool, as much as I like it.

Can you even get the Scout? From the looks of it the Kickstarter was a nightmare. It does however look like the best tool of the bunch.

Im currently waiting to try this, similar to Screwpop, but looks like a much better design.

That's a nice design. The video in the update answered my only questions about the blade lock and release. I originally backed both the Scout and TPT. Something the project creator said made me decide to cancel the pledge. The project has been a mess with delivery dates being missed. I was an early bird backer for TPT and had previously backed other projects.

Why are you concerned about not using the sheath? I only cary mine sheathless and feel the sheath is too bulky.

Because I prefer the knife in a sheath at the office. I carry my Vic classic in a sheath. The cost of the TPT is in the grade of titanium used. These guys seem to use a better supplier than other titanium products I have purchased which claimed to be the same grade of titanium.

I would honestly rather have a stainless steel body. Titanium is too soft IMO. I do like the tool, but ended up selling mine.

Two of these I carry. One stays behind and gets light duty at the house opening mail sometimes. I just prefer the R.U.T.

I would have purchase the Rexford RUT but it seems to be continuously out of stock. I probably would still buy it if it were ever in stock. The OOS status for the RUT was probably a contributing factor to the other designers.

Would the TPT have any advantages for airline travel over the leatherman style ps?

I removed the blade from the TPT. The TSA only frisked my left knee for surgical scars from 1982. One day I will fall over when they grab my knee. The EU and Canada have never frisked my knee for extra screening.

REI has the TPT on clearance for $33. It is odd that REI even carried this item.

So I bought the TPT at a huge discount online. I've had it for over a week now and I'm really impressed with it. Definitely worth what I paid for it.
