Try a Stabilo Bionic Worker - very smooth gel pen that makes the G2 feel rough. Or Parker gel refills in the many pens that Parker gel refills will fit including many freebie pens these days.
I use a Space Pen almost exclusively in my Moleskine, except when other colors are required, and then I use the G2 minis I carry in my laptop bag.
Do you have an official refill for the Space Pen? I think I bought a compatible one, and that may be why mine leaves spatters in my Moleskines.
I'm on the original cartridge. It blobbed a little, but as others have indicated, that goes away. They just get better and better
I like two pens uniball signo 207 - gel pen that writes crisp and clean sharpie pen- fine point and quick drying
My favorite pen I have found is any of the Tul pens I really like them. They make several different ones and I like them all. you buy them at an office supply store Atrain
Picked up a yellow Lamy Safari fountain pen today! I LOVE IT! :smitten:  And the ink is quick drying and does not bleed whatsoever! O0 YAY LAMY! :highfive:
I'm not as fond of gel pens as I was a few months ago. On the other hand, I've learned that a fine-point Fisher refill writes very nearly as smoothly as a gel pen, so I've converted all my Fisher pens to fine point and use them in my Piccadilly notebooks.
A few months ago I was introduced to a pen that works phenomenally in my Moleskin. The Pilot Precise V5 RT. It is great ink and it dries very quickly. I can only get it to smudge if I hit it with my finger within about 1 second of writing. I didn't are for the ergonomics but it is interchangeable with any pen that accept the G2. I use the G2 Pro and a G2 Limited.
I exclusively use Pilot VBall pens in my Moleskines. I love the ultra fine 0.5 nib, they're very fast drying (i'm a lefty) and they don't bleed through the pages. I tend to carry around VBall Classics in black, light blue, green and red.
I tried to use my SpacePen in my moleskin. After a year I still didn't like it. My pen of choice now are G-2's, in .05 and .38. I had bad luck with my 3pk of G-2 .38's. One my son messed up, one started spontaneously leaking and the last one seems fine :|
