I'm sure this has been done before but I wanted to know what the best pen you ever bought that retails at 10 bucks or under. I just got an old/new pen that I hadn't written with in years that brought back good memories. I grabbed a Parker Jotter the other day at the office supply for 5.99. What a great pen.

I am also very fond of the Zebra 301 and 701. What is your cheap pen choice?

Either a Zebra Telascopic pen or a cheap cut down pen.

Never heard of the free ink roller. Who makes it? Well the Jotter just got cheaper. Got back from Walmart and snagged one for 3.87. :D I'm easily amused.

I am fond of the Stainless Steel Jotter sold at WalMart (with a extra gel refil) for ~$7 IIRC

I stand for Caran d'Ache entry level pens. The best of all is the metal 849 (around 12 CHF, a tad over 10 USD), but if you're on a tight budget, a cheap plastic alternative exists : the 825. It's a bit longer, but it writes as nicely as an Ecridor and it costs about 2 CHF and it's far more reliable than Bic propositions.

If you want a plastic Caran d'Ache a bit more glamorous, you can try the Frosty line that I bought for about 4 CHF and that is very nice with its black translucent resin body.

Beside ballpoints, I use time to time a Stabilo Boss Fineliner 88 0.4 feltpoint pen, wich cost almost nothing, is very elegant and is provided in most known colours of the universe. Another option, a bit more costly, are the ergonomic S'move and S'move easy, which are maybe the most comfortable pens I'd ever used (but don't have a good lifetime for my needs).

Edit : I forgot to include the best fountain pen of the world, the Pilot Pluminix. It truely improve my writing by a 100 factor, it's tiny, it don't leak in my pocket, and I bought it for less than 6 euros. Even if I don't like Pilot pens in general (lacking in autonomy or realibility in my tests), this one is a winner. Here it is with some of my cheap everyday pens :

(Bic Atlantis costs me nothing, since I found it, and it's a no-nonsense good overall pen, the kind I can lend with second touhgt).

    I have a big hand and I like the thick pens with a cushion. I believe I use a Ph.d by Papermate/Sanford.

    Uni Power Tank

    - 3 atm pressurised ballpoint refill which writes upside down, under water and in extreme temperatures
    - superb flow, feels almost like a gel pen
    - thick, comfortable grip which won't tire the hand even if you wrote a novel with it.

I forgot all about the Parker Jotter. I got one as a gift in the 6th grade and it remained a favorite of mine for many years. I'm going out to get a couple TODAY!

I must say I love the zebra 301-compact, the 301 with fine tip and today I just picked up the zebra f-701 which is stainless with knurled finger grip. I love the soft click feature as well as the "hefty" weight of it.
