Sounds like they are all great knives

I look forward to seeing some pictures of them when you get a chance.

    Here's a couple I don't think I've shared here before.

Caleb's post got me ruminating about my favorite knife, and looking at some older pics of mine.

    A 910T trainer, along with a 905bt mini Stryker.

The mini was an underpriced gunshow find, and the T was found through a friend of a friend of an acquaitance who knew I was looking for one. Not many unmolested trainers left out there, a great many were bought for the Red g10 scales which made their way on to regular 910's...

My newest stryker is just like the one you have pictured, except the blade is uncoated. I really like it. Benchmade seems to be across the board with their D2 blades. I have some that are great and some that didn't catch the quench right or something. The one I got in Bahgram has been useful over the years, but the edge has always sucked. I'm pretty sure it was a packaged knife, meaning it came in a package like the Kershaw knives at Walmart. Not sure that means anything, but I didn't like that as much as getting it in a nice microfiber bag like my tanto stryker.

I only have one Stryker with a D2 blade

Top one, a Nitrous assisted 912. The rest of my Stryker collection all have ATS-34 or M2 blades. In case anyone is curious, the middle one is a 910S in ATS-34, the bottom is a 910HSS with M2.

This was the second generation Stryker, still a Titanium liner lock with assisted open added. D2 steel was used pretty much exclusively on the gen 2 knives, I believe the only variations in blade steel were with the gold class versions. The Third gen Strykers are the steel liner Axis locks, with 154CM being the standard steel.

D2 is a great steel, but takes equally great patience and technique to sharpen properly. I love it myself (maybe more psychological than anything, but I quite like a steel whose sole reason for existing is to cut other steel), but given the sharpening concerns I don't think I would choose it on a field knife. Would go with something more like ATS-34 (154CM) or simliar - for ease of field sharpening...

    That's the one I have....the top one....if the 912 is a Mini. I remember the ATS 34 days. It's all 154CM nowadays. Same difference.

    Tanto mini? The 906. Nice.

I quite like these gen 2 Strykers, quite faithful to the originals and the Nitrous assist is quite an elegant mechanism. Simplicity in itself.

And yeah, ats-34 vs 154cm. Same difference indeed, completely interchangable in every aspect.
