Opinel No. 7 for a few children of friends (~5–8 years old). I told them what colours to choose from, but not what I was talking about. Will not be Christmas presents but save my own knives from their abuse.
It did until I bought it. It’s a very small shop in the center of the city. The lowest price I found on the net was 26€ with free shipping, I paid 30€ for it and supported the local dealer.
Since some time there’s a Heimplanet The Cave tent on my wish list, preferably in “cairo camo” colour. I always looked around for one cheaper than the ~550 € it costs seemingly everywhere. Today was an advent calendar tent sale at an online shop I get the newsletter from. So I ordered it and a pump 10% cheaper (~530 € instead of ~590 €) … it’s got an inflatable geodesic frame.
The tent arrived already. I gave it to the family to wrap it up for me to have something to unwrap on Thursday.
I’m in Hamburg at the 32C3 at the moment. If the phone’s battery doesn’t fail you can reach me by calling +49402318899599. That’s a German landline number I have only while the event lasts and if being in the building.
Have fun at the Congress. Haven't checked the schedule yet. But well, I'm waiting for the Vids and will watch them next year, as I have to work until the 30. und then got on a short vacation.
You could stab it with a knife, but to “normal” threats it seems pretty restistant. And the exoskeleton is divideable into five chambers very easily. So if something happens you still have four other chambers.
Zebralight H602w came in. Fascinating how these Chinese achieve most of the time to avoid import VAT.
The Spark ST6-460NW still works, but isn’t reliable anymore and drains the battery way too fast even when turned off. I tried flushing it with distilled water to dissolve the sea water residue, but it seems there’s either something damaged permanently or I can’t get the distilled water in every nook and cranny.
Last night I used the H602w for the first time for geocaching. I’m really satisfied with my purchase decision. Really bright, and the 120° flood beam fits my field of sight. With a more narrow beam I’d have a tunnel vision, now there’s everything like in daylight.
Only thing that I’m not sure about is the GITD “non-reflector”. Might be good for finding the torch when laid down for a moment, but if I want to be unseen by a muggle from now on I have to hide it.
I'm not entirely sure what it's purpose is. It wouldn't really aid in finding it in the dark that much because the GITD is facing out, not up… Sent from Catherine's iPhone using Tapatalk.
I’m way behind with my podcasts, so today I heard one about survival from last year. If you understand German you can go to Bayerischer Rundfunk (Bavarian Public Radio) and search for “Der letzte Mensch - Wie wir überleben, wenn wir überleben - 21.03.2015”, which should lead you to an mp3 file.
