Hahaha love that patch.
Found it at tacwrk where I was to look at rucksacks. Now I want a Arc’teryx Khard 45 in wolf colour even more than before (and the Mystery Ranch 3DAP less), but they’re so expensive …
Sorry to post in such an old thread but I had to say hi to a fello dragonfly SS user
That’s a very old picture. My Spyderco collection has evolved. I have gotten a few more (Nishijin ZDP-189 Dragonfly, a Super Blue Endura, EDCF Manix 2 XL, Chaparral, Assist …probably some more I can’t remember right now), gave some away (the second SS Dragonfly), lost the ZDP-189 Delica and found it a year later, and did dumb things to the FRN ZDP-189 Dragonfly (needs a new handle, will probably get orange G10).
So now we need an updated collection pic.
Might happen … some time in the future.
The tritium vial in my Isotope 360 on my keychain broke. Good that when I ordered it I got a spare one, too.
I’ll be in Hamburg 26–30 December at one of world’s biggest hacker and nerd events, the 32th Chaos Communication Congress (“32C3”). I’ll try to learn/get into lock picking, python programming and other stuff, and enjoy some music, culture, drinks, … and perhaps host an event geocache. If someone else will be there – or at least in Hamburg – contact me to meet up!
Maybe i'm in Hamburg at this time.
Depends on my in-laws.
One recommendation is the so called "portuguese quarter", located in the Dietmar-Koel-Straße. There are some pretty nice bars and restaurants.
It's around 5 to 10 minutes away from the subway-station "Landungsbrücken", where's the Hard-Rock Cafe located at.
And now for something completely different:
Since I got an iPhone 6s, I need a holder for it for my car. I don’t like these suction cup holders that obstruct the view through the windshield.
I found another option from a Swedish company called Brodit. They sell a system of mounting plates for specific car models and holders for specific devices. But for my car (Citroën Berlingo) the potential places to mount them is either on the left A column or in knee height right to the gear shift. Besides being rather expensive, neither is an option for me because for my use case I need the phone to be to the right of the steering wheel.
My car has a radio, and below it another standard sized radio slot. At the moment there’s a tray in there, but it’s not that useful. So I thought about removing this tray, and making something custom to mount devices (iPhone, Garmin etrex 30, …) or other stuff on it. Perhaps add a pen slot or two, and a (yet to define) paper holding device.
So before doing this I need to find out how to remove the tray, and how to make and mount my custom mounting station. Then make an iPhone holder, probably kydex would be a good choice of material.
I’ve never done any car modifications like this before. Any suggestions or tips?
I have never done any custom mounts but have used options from Bracketron, panavise and Ram. But limited to North American trucks.
I guess a Berlingo doesn’t qualify as North American neither as truck.
The tray looks like this:
Can't help much with that.
Today I sat in a train at a table, and a guy came to sit on the same table. I did some administrative paper stuff, and read “Survival Magazin” after.
Then the other guy took an ESEE 3 out of his 5.11 Rush 12 and began cleaning it.
I commented “nice tool” and we chatted about knives and gear until arrival. I gave him my private business card and wrote the forum address and my user name on it. Let’s see if he’ll show up here.
If you’ll be there you’ll attend 32C3, too?
No i don't think i will attend.
When i'm up there, i will only stay till the 27th, because my family down here wants to see me too.
My Spark ST6-460 is acting up. Somehow the bezel unscrewed itself and saltwater got into it, and now I don’t know if it’s repairable.
The Nitecore P16 is not much better. I broke the “tactical grip ring” (is there a better name for it?) and can’t find a replacement. And sometimes it decides to turn on itself. Whacking it a bit against something corrects this, but I’d like it more reliable. I know I can’t expect it to be an HDS, but that would be too expensive anyway.
Might be a good time to stroll over to T.H.Cone's thread. He likes the good budget lights and will likely be able to recommend the perfect thing you are looking for.
I’m thinking about a Zebralight with 18650 battery. Probably H602w or H600w Mk II, depending on if I’d think it’s better with flood or with reflector. Since I want the headlamp to be used for close-up stuff, flood would probably be the better choice, but the H602w is on back order.
