I was trying to find my 800th geocache yesterday on a small island in a lake. We found dead birds, a lot of bird feces, and other uncomfortable stuff, but not the cache. But at least I tried this kayak for the first time, because I wanted to know it works for a few event geocaches (river paddling and camping) in the near future.
I’ve had and will have little time to be online here for the past two weeks and at least the next one. But there is some stuff waiting to be pictured. First thing to mention is the item cowsmilk proxied to me (and added some gifts himself). I hope to find time tomorrow, but I’m not sure it will work. Hint 1: the mentioned item is a knife that has been on my wish list for a long time. It was always out of stock when I looked at the maker’s website. Then I finally wrote him an e-mail, and he said he was currently making new ones. Bought one, waited not too long for him to send it. Probably because cowsmilk proxied it to me it went through customs without them wanting money from me, but it took them a few weeks to place a “processed” sticker on it. Hint 2: it’s the slimmest and lightest knife I own. Who can guess what I’m talking about?
I’m alive, but was too busy to catch up. You guys write so much that once one is behind it’s nearly impossible.
There’s a lot of stuff I need to take pictures of … and when I’ll do I’ll probably forget to include some of it …
Today I found the Delica I lost a year ago. The ZDP-189 had some rust on it, and I think what’s called pitting mainly on the pivot area. But for being out in the weather under a walnut tree (with tannic acids) it’s not as much rust as I expected. I cleaned what was cleanable, and it still works. Still cuts, but probably sharpening would improve it.
Oh, and besides other stuff I got I ordered the second expensive thing after the car I bought this year. iPhone 6s. Should come 8–12 Oct the e-mail said. But no shipping confirmation yet.
I’ve been in Berlin today and found a patch for Antithetik or survivorman or other Bavarians. And when I got home there was a green Bantam waiting from Joost Heijnen.
