Pleased to hear you found a solution Batteur - one of the reasons I like the Guildford is it doesn't have the press-stud close strap, so that helps keep it nice and slim. I might keep an eye out for a second one just in case mine goes astray - didn't realise they were discontinued...
I’m not 100% sure it’s continued but think I read it somewhere. The absence of the strap is something I like, too. I wanted it to be as slim as possible.
I got the same problem with the ink, but it wasn't because of the missing air. The floating particles in the ink blocked the ink feed.
Sitting in the DB.Lounge at Frankfurt (Main) Hbf train station (free wifi, free non-alcoholic drinks). Waiting for the train, since they are on strike and only a few are going. So I have time, camera, net, paper and table, and some kind of light.
Yesterday when getting rid of old windows, I had the idea to try a few glass breaking options. I had with me a Böker Plus VAT, a ResQme of which I’m not sure if it was rebranded or a fake, and a cheap safety glass hammer I got for free. Since I didn’t think of it in advance I didn’t bring a few others (Böker Plus Rescom Fixed, Lionsteel SR1, SR2 and TM1, Schrade Pen, …) and the Spyderco Assist I bought recently in the BST isn’t here yet. The results: The (fake?) ResQme didn’t work at all. It (or me?) failed to break any glass, the lanyard/blade protector broke off, and I don’t know if it’s broken internally. The VAT did work. It’s good to have gloves with the hands being so close to the point of impact. Probably it’s best to get the o-rings out of the way before to get a better impact and to not tear them. The cheap safety hammer worked best as long as it worked. Good leverage, heavy enough head. But it seems the metal bolt part with the pointy ends was only held in the head with some thin plastic, and that broke. So it would have worked in an emergency for one car window or two, but not much longer. I think I need to go back to the dumpsite and ask if they let me destroy some more glass with my other breaking implements.
A friend logging a geocache by tree climbing. A Knipex Cobra XXL (40 cm version) used to get sausages after a CITO (cache in, trash out) event geocache. Had to clean it before. No, I didn’t find it because of the CITO but brought it myself. The Weißwürste floated on the surface, but the Käsekrainer I wanted had sunk to the bottom. An EDCF coin at the Rhine near Cologne. Ahti Tikka while going for a walk.
Yesterday I met Patrick87. We sat in a Biergarten and the other guests looked funny as we emptied our bags and pockets. The black shoes and Spezi are mine, the red shoes and Weizen are Patrick’s.
It was a pleasant meeting, i enjoyed it a lot. All looked funny, except for the waiter, he was kind of interested. Maybe we can arrange a meeting with Antithetik and survivorman the next time, then we could make a full-size flea market
I've had a few of these meetings and they are fun. The flow of conversation is accompanied by 'Oohhhh','This is Nice' and 'This is heavier than I expected'. Unfortunately over here if you did that in a cafe or beer garden you would probably have some of cheeser's mates joining you. People think the worst so the best place is A backyard patio over a few beers.
Hahaha i like that Biergarten load out pic a lot. Especially that you had to step on the bench to get all of the gear on one pic.
Some snapshots: Some delicious red. A geocaching container made from a toilet brush and a film canister. It was put into a metal tubing traffic light construction. One of my recent workplaces.
