What I like about the Goruck is its minimalist tactical look and its rectangular sharp look. The back padding is quite neat and thick as well. Function wise the Rush just gives it more and for its price you get more from it. Its just hard for me to spare that much on a Goruck for a single bag.

Exactly my thoughts. I'm happy with my R12 and will continue to use it. My plan is maybe take it as a solo bag for travel and see how it holds up

    1. UTG Tactical Organizer, truly an EDC item for over 3 years and counting. It goes to work, hiking, grocery trips, etc. It holds boring things like spare batteries as well as an ESEE 3, Surefire 6PX Pro, poncho, glow sticks, lighter, water proof matches, space blanket, etc.

    2. Maxpedition Pygmy Falcon 2. Overnight bag and extended hike bag when my lady is with me.

    3. Ancient, unknown brand duffel. Multiple changes of clothes bag.

    4. 20+ year old Jansport backpack. Range bag :) I have abused it badly for many years and it just keeps going. Amazing durability.

    5. Maxpedition Aftermath. Car FAK, can be piggybacked on my other bags.

    6. Maxpedition EDC Organizer. Deodorant, tooth brush, toothpaste, nail clippers, Starbucks Iced Via packets. Moves between 1 and 2.

If you don't carry it every day, it's not every day carry.

So In responding to another post last night I looked around my room and realized that within arms reach I have 6 bags that I can use. I started to think I was overdoing it so I stopped and really thought about why I have each of them and if it made sense to downsize.
    So here's my list
Vanquest Mobius (EDC for short trips) - Also my Newest bag and one that I have really fallen in love with

5.11 Moab 10 (EDC for an entire day or one overnight) - Used to be my all the time EDC bag until I downsized and reorganized everything.

5.11 Rush 72 (Multiple Overnight bag/Bug Out) - Purchased specifically for this role

LL bean Messenger bag (my old bag from High School) - Got to this one and realized it's still in :censored: good shape and that I could have used it to easily fill the role of the Moab 10. So I'm thinking maybe that I did kinda waste the money on the 5.11 bag since this bag that i've had for over 15 years that still looks almost new could have done it's job.

Spyder Backpack (My dad found it for sale cheap at a Spyder Outlet) - This one really doesn't seem to have a use aside from maybe a backup to a Bug out bag or to again fill the role of the Moab if for some reason I didn't want to use the sling bag for a day.

La Police Gear Bug Out Bag (got this one for free with a purchase of other stuff) - So again ANother bag that can be used for a multi day trip. Which I have actually used it for. So Why did I buy the Rush?

So right now I'm sitting with 3 packed bags and 3 empty ones and Feeling kinda like an idiot for spending extra money when I didn't REALLY need to. Anyone else feel this way? Have bags you bought and have just forgotten about or didn't fill a specific role perfectly, so you went and got another one?

Oh and last night i found my self looking at Kifaru bags and J-tech bags and I think I have a problem lol.

If you didn't have a problem you wouldn't have joined this group where we all hide behind screen names and egg each other on to new acquisitions, buy each other's stuff and regret what we've sold.

So relax; here you're normal. Enjoy it!

Eagle Industries NATO Load Out Bag - Used often; typically as a suitcase type bag for when I go on longer trips or as a gear bag when I go on a "big adventure".

The North Face Crestone 60 - Used often; 3+ day camping pack. Not the lightest but I find it comfortable to wear and I'm a strong enough hiker that an extra lb or two isn't going to hurt

Osprey Kestrel 38 - Used frequently; Technical daypack (ropes/climbing gear/ect), summer weekend pack, winter overnight pack. One of my favorites!

Camelback BFM - Rarely used; Military issued, just kept it around cause it's a cool bag.

Diamondback Tactical SOF Assault Pack - Rarely used; Military issued, might find a use for it someday.

Diamondback Tactical 3 Day Assault Pack - Rarely used but getting assigned as my :censored: pack; Military issued, used a little in the service but will get a bit more use here shortly.

Camelbak Fourteener - Used Extensively; Go-to day pack or Ultra-light Overnight pack.

Camelbak HAWG - Used Extensively; Military issued but currently used as my school pack.

Good to know I'm not alone... I have

Maxpedition Falcon II: modded it for travel, used it for a year, now it just sits in the closet
Rush 24: Used it at work for a while but too big. Now it keeps the Falcon II company
Old Eddie Bauer school backpack: Absolutely will not die. My son has moved into it
Maxpedition Sitka Gearslinger: Love it and use it from time to time
Duluth Pack backpack: Only had it a few weeks but I have used it everyday for every activity.

Don't get me going on pouches. I really should thin the herd...

    My updated list:

Goruck GR1 for travel mostly but versatile

Mystery Ranch ASAP because I love it for EDC shape, harness and Tri-zip are winners

GGG SOP for light coffee shop EDC use

GGG LAP (new) great size/weight for biking/EDC

TAD LITESPEED (again) because I love it just taming the straps is a fun challenge

Outdoor Research Dry Peak Bagger for errands, totally waterproof and weighs zero

TT Removable Operator Pack just arrived to use as not-sure-yet but first TT item

    Tons of pouches, patches etc.

Went through at least five Max Versipaks over the years because it's transit, travel, hiking and urban friendly but resold every time because of the sling-thing issues: too heavy/uncomfortable after short jaunt then painful and slightly chest compressing when loaded.
