    Hows it going
Im originally from auckland but have been living in chch for about 15 yrs now. Pretty happy down here and wouldnt be to keen on moving back up there. Theres no salmon fishing up there, it never seems to stop raining and who the hell can afford to buy a house up there.

It's bearable up here, but only just. Yeah houses are ridiculous. Aren't they increasing in price at about 20% each year! Stupid pricing! We got in at the right time about 12 to 15 years ago. I wouldn't want to be a young couple starting out.
We wanted to escape Auckland before the kids got entrenched in school. If my current job hadn't panned out we would have headed south for sure. We get to head down country to taranaki or east Coast sometimes so that helps.

My son may want to be a dentist so we may get to Dunedin eventually, who knows

I loved Christchurch. Just to be able to wake up in spring and look outside. Either head off to Taylor's mistake for some waves or look out west for the nor'west arch and that dry nor'wester ,some good snow boarding, it's gonna be a good day. I miss those days.
I haven't been back since the quakes. I would imagine it would be a pretty sad visit.

A quick update for anybody that has been following the news about Australian knife import laws, rumours have it that the change is coming into effect from the 1st of october.

It seems that previously restricted imports will be allowed legally into the country again. As far as exactly what models/styles will be allowed remains to be seen but from all accounts the only knives that may still be restricted are autos and assisted styles.

It seems as though common sense may prevail this time.

Lets hope the forum store has a few gitd Manix 2's left.

If you are wondering what i look like, keep an eye out for the tall bloke strutting around Melbourne with a giant grin on his face. :)

Thanks for the update BobsBargains. There may just be a light at the end of the tunnel.
Sounds like a good time to start saving for all those folders we never though we'd be able to own for under $1000 locally.
    Now where to start....

    What's your favourite colour.

Wish I had $1000 to spend on knives.

Spyderco kitchen knives are nice !
my Santoku is close to 10 years old, and still going strong - took me ages to hunt one down, they were discontinued a little while before i started looking.

Shun, Ran and Global aren't bad either (VG10 in the Shun and Ran, i believe Global is similar to AUS-6) - Victorinox are a bit soft, like most german kitchen knives but do get amazingly sharp, but seem to need frequent steeling to maintain it

Like they offer you a seat on a chintz lounge and high tea? Or they lick your face to make sure it's you?
