Aussie EDCF GITD Spyderco Manix knife owners

    I tried to buy a an EDCF GITD Spyderco Manix from the first run a few years ago.

    It was confiscated by Aussie customs

    Long story short OZ customs gave me the opportunity to send the knife back to Jon if I supplied them with a return freight paid package.

    Recently Australia has relaxed some of the prohibited weapon laws (or so I've heard), and I'm wondering if any fellow Aussies have been able to import OHO Spyderco knives?

    The law change hasn't come into effect yet from what I've heard. So I wouldn't go ordering one just yet.

    And I want one too.

    Sorry for my slooow reply.

    I wasn't aware the knife law changes hadn't happened yet, but as soon as they do I'll be selling one of my kidneys....or maybe the beautiful flowers from some of my special garden plants to fund one.

    They say "third time lucky" but I'm hoping it'll be second time lucky :D

    How do they know if its a knife? By the package label, X-ray machine etc... I have sent knives to several countries to help fellow inmates here and have never had on not get its new home.

    It's all in how you word the customs declaration. You can get creative with the description. And include a card if necessary. It's not "1x OHO sharp scary knife" but it might be "1x Camping Tool w/ birthday card" for example. badcop didn't have any problems with the one sent his way.

    Guess there's some luck involved too. But try to use generic non-descript packaging (ie don't put stickers on outside advertising for knife companies) and make it difficult to extract. Maybe Customs will be too lazy to bother. :p

    The knife laws in Australia are set to change soon. Word is they will go back to what they used to be, with no restrictions on OHO knives.
