A couple of things to note about diets - everyone has an opinion. But there are some key points everyone agrees with: 1. No soda. Soda is bad. Large amounts of sugar, usually HFCS. 2. No diet soda. This more controversial, but diet soda a glorified chemical cocktail that your body doesn't need. 3. Keep a log of what you eat and when. 4. Keep an eye on the amount of sugar you take in. 5. Don't drink your calories - just about everything except water has a calorie count. Usually a high one. 6. Don't starve your body; your metabolism actually shuts down to prolong your life and prevent starvation. Another point: all weight is not created equal. You want to lose fat. You don't want to lose muscle. A scale doesn't distinguish between fat weight and muscle weight. The better measure is how your pants are fitting on your waistline.
Plus everything stated ^^ (Calipers work good for testing bodyfat but fitting those old pants you have in the back of the closet always feels great) lol
I like that shovelglove idea that's freaking neat, I can only imagen having to go out everyday for a year to shovel snow, wow would I be in shape, or dead. I have a set of three kettlebells, 5, 10, & 15lbs, I also have bodyblade and forget the name of it, but it's a tube with a spring on the inside, and cables on the out side, so you can press the two tubes together or pull the two cables apart and by doing so it compresses the spring, I know they were quite popular, and not cheap. I remember looking for the case to store it in cause mine didn't have one and even they were expensive, ill have it dig it out of the basement cause now the name is bugging me! JR
Good luck with it man, getting in shape is something you will never regret doing! I'm currently on a quest to drop about about 8kg, and get as light as possible, I have bad joints so the lighter I am the easier it is on them. The most important thing is to eat well, and be doing some sort of exercise, imho.
Sorry I just saw your question. I still follow it but not like I want since I hurt my back. I Will only do it a few times a week. Once I finish my adjustments I plan to get back to it. My brother has used the DVDs and he liked it as well. He was interested since a guy he goes to school with uses it. He said the guy has really gotten in shape since starting it
Someone i know has the P90X but wants to try the insanity now, so hes sending me the P90X since hes no longer using it. and while i was out last night i found a pull-up bar for dirt cheap, grant it, its not the best but it works! so when the dvds come in i guess ill be starting! oh boy! JR
try to follow the diet as well as its designed very well. to help shred fat the first 3 weeks i believe.
I've been working out to P90X for over five years and its been great for me. I use dumb bells and a pullup bar that fits over any door jam. I was in pretty good shape as a long distance runner but this workout made me overall stronger. Good luck.
*grins* Don't judge yourself by pullup success or failure. Pullups are one of the hardest exercises to do, especially if you're just starting your fitness journey. Ease into it and don't expect miracles overnight.
Im not sure if this has been mentioned but a really good workout, or at least one that I've found that I always stick to is learn a martial art. Not only is it a great workout but it is also a valuable skill, and if your like me and pick something such as wrestling you have to work out on your own to be good at it, so your strong for your weight.
