Anything that's fun to fidget with or has an interesting texture? These are good mind-occupiers when it's not socially acceptable to use your phone. Something like: •Those Japanese bubble wrap/edamame/tear packaging toys •I also think this is the purpose of bolt action pens? Even clicky pens are played with in this manner. •My Leatherman Style PS clicks into place when you open the pliers, which is fun to play with •I had a camera that 2 people separately told me the lens cover felt good to open and close •I think some people count prayer beads? Seeing how popular beads are here, I wonder if people play with them when bored? •Gears on rings (jewelry) and phone cases I'm asking because Razer (the gaming company) made keychains out of their mechanical keyboard switches: They look like they'll be great to fidget with! I don't think I'll win one so I'm looking where I can buy one.
Ok I found some pictures: Edamame toy: It's a Japanese soybean snack. Some people like the feeling of squeezing them out of the pod. Bubble wrap toy: Gear ring: The gears actually move!
I used to have one of the bubble wrap keychains but the battery died, then I lost it... it was amusing for a while. I have a favorite worry stone in polished rose quartz and I've been known to carry homemade begleri on occasion.
Oh forgot to add - car keys. I had a Hyundai one once where you press the button and the key flicked out, like a switchblade. I miss that.
I can solve six different Rubik's (type) puzzles as well, from the 2x2x2 up to the 6x6x6 including the Shengshou mirror 3x3x3. Also, since it's legal to own in my state I have a balisong trainer floating around the house just for fun flipping (Bear and Sons)
I've seen a magnetic toy on an EDC Tumblr account. I think it started on Kickstarter. It was a small metal barrel with a metal plunger in it. The magnets in the barrel and plunger made it have a sort of snap when you moved the plunger thru the barrel. I wish I could find one cuz it looks like fun and is small enough to carry in the pocket all the time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
^That's it, top work! I like it. I think it's time to go bloodhound on this gadget! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I find myself using one of my small Spydies as a fidget, open close, open close, right now its my SB Manbug....
I had seen the animated gifs of these on and off for a couple of years, and as a fidgeter/jeweler/tinkerer I had lusted after one for quite some time. Last Christmas came around and lo and behold, one of these was waiting for me under the tree. One of my favorite tactile toys, and, unlike flippable knives (I do quite enjoy flipping my ZT0566) it is much more acceptable in public. Other favorites of mine include aforementioned flippers, for a while I carried a zippo almost essentially for fiddling/flipping tricks, and click action pens (although it quickly turns into sketching if paper is available).
