I read this thread title as 'anyone ever talk to their cars here?'

I was about to post how, on several occasions I have spoken to a machine as though it were a human and could hear me...

I think I shall save myself the embarrassment and walk away...

If it makes you feel any better, your not the only one. Have done that several times myself. (regularly actually. I've been around my truck since I was a small kid, and its more of an old friend than a vehicle. )

My car was only a little one litre, not really made for long distance driving so whenever it made a noise that didn't sound healthy I'd always give it words of encouragement to help it along it's way. :p

I met an Argentinian couple in Death Valley driving a Citroën 2CV which has a 600cc air cooled engine from Argentina to Alaska. And after Alaska they were going to make a return route all the way back to Argentina!

How is that for encouragement? ;)

I'm going to the garage to ask my car where it would like to go.

I do a lot of off-roading and expeditions so my daily driver is a modified Wrangler.

I might like cars just a wee bit. This is one of the cars I race fairly regularly.

I drove a '79 VW campervan across Mexico. Glad I did stuff like that when I was young.

My folks have always been big on GMs. My first car was a 1988 Chevy Caprice Classic station wagon that had been my Mom's. Big ugly boat of a car. Though if you can parallel park that, you can parallel park anything. Plenty of room, but couldn't get out of it's own way. Parkway on ramps were always fun. Mash the accelerator to the floor and pray. Fun car though.

After that, I had my Grandpop's Oldsmobile. Wasn't as bad as it sounds. It was a Olds Cutlass Cierra. Nice little old folk car. Small, good mileage, didn't look all that horrible, at least not when compared to the Caprice. Just when that was starting to fall apart, my Dad got a new truck and I bought his old one off of him.

I loved that old '97 Chevy 1500. Hated the gas mileage, but loved carrying around my kayak in the back. Hated to see it go, but I was getting tired of paying for all the parts that kept falling off of it.

So, now I'm rolling around in a 2013 Malibu. I've almost got it paid off. I miss the cargo capability of the truck, but cars are so much easier to live with. I love the turning circle on it, the gas mileage is good, the color is nice, etc. I just wish I could fit a kayak inside. Oh well, that's what my Dad's truck is for.
