Just another form of electronic leash.
I do like the functions and services my cell phone provides, but they do get annoying after awhile. Always blinking, beeping, vibrating, ringing. I play a game or two on it and I text a lot. But it's nothing that's necessary.
you can read facebook when you should be working, weather forecast in your pocket, radio and spotify, etc.
I love my mobile phone, but there are times I just want and need to unplug... and do.
Well, it's always wrong to hate a inanimate object or to blame them for people's behavior... but I really don't like cellphones. I don't think there is any question that "smart" phones make dumb people dumber and rude people ruder. Just today at dinner out I saw... guy ordering while talking on the phone, girl behind the register was trying to ask him what he wanted and he kept saying "what?"... group of guys watching a video with the sound cranked up, drowning out everyone trying to talk around them... girl on the other side of us yaking and cussing on the phone... and don't even get me started on the number of people you see every day talking and texting while driving. Yes, they can be a great help at times... but I don't understand those who spend every waking moment with their nose buried in one.
Me either. I know that phones don't create rudeness but they certainly magnify it.
(as I type this I am watching Star Trek and Mr. Spock is on the screen)
Oh! Which one?
The problem is that when this generation was growing up, cellphones were already common during mom & dad's generation. Even then, there were no structured rules in place for proper cellphone etiquette and manners. So mom & dad see nothing wrong with rude and retarded cellphone behavior because they did that crap too.
The one with Joan Collins.
The City on the Edge of Forever
One of the best.
It was on MeTV. It's a great channel.
I'm watching an interesting B movie on it now. Great channel. I often stay up til 2am to watch old episodes of the original Mission: Impossible series Monday - Friday.
Most of what I watch is on Cozi (Magnum P.I.), MeTV (Dragnet, Adam 12, Gilligan's Island, F-Troop, Twilight Zone, Perry Mason, Night Gallery, Star Trek) and Antenna TV(WKRP). I like old school TV much better than 99% of the new crap.
I hear ya.
Back then, they made shows that were actually good. Nowadays, it's all about not offending anyone. So we get water-downed, dumbed-down crap that strives to be politically correct. So much so that when you try hard not to offend anyone, you end up horribly offending every viewer with a working brain.
