I believe full frame is worth the investment. Weight does come into play but I still plan to hike/camp with it for astro stuff. I ahve a crop and full frame now so having both is a nice perk.
My camera kit changed dramatically about 6 months ago. I was made redundant, and had to hand back all of my company issued Canon gear (2x1DX, 16-35, 24-70, 70-200, flashes etc) I expanded my Leica kit 35 f1.2 and multifunction grip on the M240 body, 28f2, 50f2.5 and 90 f2.8 But i no longer have as much time to use it.. My new job also gives me access to a 700D, 80D and a bunch of yongnuo and samyang lenses. But i prefer shooting with the M
I almost know how you feel. When I retired from the US Navy as a Combat Cameraman, I had to give back all of my kit (all Nikon) as well. Lucky for me though I got a job working as a civilian for the US Army as a photographer and slid right back into the Nikon world. Although I now prefer to shoot with Fuji X cameras. Thank you ! Its nice to be able to shoot for fun, instead of having to have a publishable picture from every time picked the cameras up. The new job is pretty great too - the hours are better as are the conditions.
My daily, off body, camera is a Canon t6 with 24mm lens. I have the full kit with the 18-75 and 55-300 (or something like that) and a 50mm. But I can get so much use out of the 24mm primary and it keeps the camera small. (It protrudes less than an inch from the body of the camera.)
Canon 6D 70-300 L 24-105 L Black Rapid sport strap Canon point and shoot in my EDC bag (don't remember model and too lazy to go look) I freely admit that the quality of my gear far surpasses my ability level. That said, I am currently lusting after the 7D II to use as a second body and for the increasingly rare chances I get to shoot ice hockey and wildlife. I would also like to add a wide angle 2.8 lens for nature and scenic shots with the 6D.
It is definitely something to grow into, I'm in the same boat. Try the 28mm F2.8 STM, not really a wide angle, but a really nice low light/shallow field lens. Pretty much the go-to for my shooting. (Selfie) (Granddaughter) (Wife)
I recently got a Tenba 7 bag to hold my lenses in my EDC bag. It works great to protect the lenses inside my MOAB 10.
Great idea. I've been looking for something to protect my lenses when I put them in my backpack. Do you think the 70-300 L would fit?
My 75-300 just fits with the hood reversed. but if it's in there, forget about a lens mounted an a body in the same bag.

I didn't think I was going to spend any more money, but I went ahead and got my first prime lens, a Nikon Nikkor 50mm f1.8G, which brings me up to three lenses for my entry level Nikon D3100. I'm just an amateur only just moving up from the point and shoots. But I think this will do it. I don't have the desire to move any further.

I have a 600D I use for protests and general press photography. I am thinking of buying a Fuji X100 which I would use for all of that, and for video. Anyone have one and how useful do they find it?
LOL Ok. ;-) The 50 is a great start and 3 lenses is a good number but eventually you will replace the 18-55 with the 17-35 or 24-70 2.8 and the longer lens with the 70-200 2.8. It will just work out like that... and you will be very happy that it did.

I don't have an X100 but I do have Fuji: X-E2, X-T2, 18-55, 23mm f/1.2 and the 56mm f/1.2. You will LOVE the Fuji quality. I switched from Nikon a few years ago and never looked back.
I have an original X100, and i would stick to the 600D. my opinion may be coloured by the glacial autofocus of it. The image quality is great, the built in ND/leaf shutter is amazing for flash work in full sun. I bought it as a personal camera though, when i was a press photographer i used the company issued 1D bodies and L lenses. I havent bought any actual camera gear in ages, but i did buy a new bag for my Leica M240 - a thinktankphoto changeupV2 I can get my camera, 4 lenses, filters, assorted other bits into a small waist pack that can be worn as a backpack, waistpack or chest rig, with a small tripod lashed to the top and walk with it all day....
