To be honest, this forum has changed my life and my wallet thickness (i.e., less money = more gear). Truth be told, I was inspired by posts and images here in this forum and got hooked; a great thing!

Since my new beginning, I now "finally" carry a knife and small light every day. While many of you might be thinking I'm nuts - this is true. It took a lot of getting used too becase I simply hated stuff in my pockets (read: pocket clips are the bomb.com)! I came to EDC Forums for pack information and got what I was looking for and way more.

So these days I carry a Streamlight MicroStream. I'm still amazed on "how often" this light gets used. I don't look for reasons to fire it up but there are many. I don't used it for my job either and know a lot of you need a good dependable light based on your vocation.

The MicroSteam was the choice I made because I wanted something small, bright (35 lumens), runs on a readily available battery size (1x "AAA"), and very affordable. I only wish there were other color choices but that's not a deal closer - I'd buy another today if needed. The clip on this little beauty has bailed me out of needing a head-lamp since I was able to clip the light to my baseball type hat visor.

Any others out there love theirs?

Every day. If you drop in an UltraFire 3.7v AAA youll be amazed at what that little workhorse can really do.

Yep, I also carry a Microstream. However, I just got the new TEC Pixel a few days ago and I'm thinking that I might carry that wee light for awhile.

I own one, but I don't carry it. I got a protac 1aaa at the same time and quite prefer it.

The microstream is an awesome light, but I still like the modes on the protac better.

    I only have three.

Good example of why sometimes (no, not all the time) "less is more."

Does what a light needs to do more often than most. Surprisingly so.

Cheap, no real pain if lost, and no reason not to be in your pocket.

Not perfect by a long shot. Doesn't need to be. That's what makes it perfect.

Like a Zippo lighter or a Bic pen.

Give 'em a light and they'll follow it anywhere.

Just reached into my pocket and pulled this out:

I've given one to each of my kids, and I keep a new-in-package spare on-hand just in case this one goes missing.

So I guess the answer to your question is "yes."

I can appreciate the simplicity and dependability of the Microstream, but 35 lumens is wayyyy too bright for most of my uses, so I prefer dimmer lights or lights with different modes.

Leaps and bounds better than the stylus pro. I had to learn the hard way.

Mircostream was my first EDC light and as such has a warm place in my kit...I mean heart. It has since been replaced by a Fenix LD12, but the Micro is still nearby.

My 1st EDC light too, and also very special place in my heart and as a backup in my toolkit.

Once I realized what the reversed clip was for, it established the standard for what I want in an EDC light.

I've got one, good light, not perfect but good.

The beam is very wide, and I'd prefer if it had more throw, but it works pretty good for what it is.
My Maratac AAA is better in some ways, but the tail cap clicky on the Microstream works much faster than the twist interface, which matters to some people.

I just cover some of the light with my fingers. It either reduces the amount of light or shields it if you don't want to shine it in a particular direction.

Give 'em a light and they'll follow it anywhere.

I have been looking at the Microstream, but having different modes appeals to me. Anyone own a Lumapower LM21? I'd love your opinions on that, powered by a 10440 or Eneloop.....

Been wearing this one on a lanyard for about 6 years, as you can tell by all the silver showing now. The rubber over the button has split open, so it might be time for a new one. This light never let me down.

True dedication and quite admirable... The phrase "If it ain't broke don't fix it" comes to mind!

Just got this one, ProTac 1AAA. Same size as the microstream but a choice of 70lm, 5lm or strobe. I am thinking the 5lm mode will come in handy for work and 70 for around the house, camp, etc. I was going to get the microstream, but the high and low modes on this one made me pick it.

They are not really the same size, the ProTac is longer and bigger around too.
It might seem a small difference but at this size even small differences can seem big to me.

Either way I love both of them
