The town I get mail from is actually the thrid closest town from me. They called this a Rural Route and all the mail used to say RR as part of the address but that changed.

There is no natural gas service out here, people buy fuel oil and have it delivered by gas truck for your underground storage tank. There is no piped in water or sewage. Well water and septic.

The phone company is a co-op owned by the users. The phone company told us last month that will will soon be able to get a high speed connection here but I will be gone by then.

Doesn't half of America live like this?

I live outside of any town or city and our mailing address and driver license list our town as the closest town which contains a post office.

Like Jon, the mailing address formerly contained a box number and Rural Route (RR). But, the US Postal Service changed its policy and now we have a street address and town, making it appear like we live inside town.

We "grow" our own water and have a septic tank, though natural gas is piped into the area. Living outside of any town, we enjoy fewer taxes and more freedom. For instance, the nearest towns have burning ordinances which restrict making fires.

We have a septic tank here too, gas is brought with a truck like twice a winter to the tank we hire. I live on a farm, but nevertheless one of the most crowdy parts of the Netherlands.
