    Hey all,

Have a backpack with a built-in laptop compartment & sleeve. I rarely carry my laptop and the space goes un-utilized or poorly utilized.

Mostly use my bag for daily work/EDC.

    Any great ideas?

    Thanks!

In addition to Penthouse and other "classified" material, the laptop compartment makes great place to store a light jacket or windbreaker.

+1 on light jacket. I have a Frogg Toggs poncho in it's pouch that I slide in mine. I've also kept a light nylon tarp and microfiber towel folded neatly in there.

I keep my notebooks and reading books in mine so that they wont get messed up and bent by my other stuff.

I use this organizer and pack it with a bunch of small stuff. It has a stiff plastic "framesheet" to keep its shape and it keeps all the small stuff packed flat, thin, tall, and close to my back, as opposed to clumping in the bottom of my pack. Not sure you can find them anymore though.

Otherwise, as mentioned by the other guys - reading materials.

Paperwork or slim folders in mine when used in an office setting. It helps my pack has a frame sheet to stop things getting crumpled.

Because it's padded, I throw my iPad in there.
