I've been trying to run the Evade as my EDC pack but just can't get straps comfortable -- too much neck and shoulder pain, despite not carrying terribly heavy loads. So I'm looking for a similar sized day/weekend pack (25-28l) with 15" laptop carry capability, a more comfortable harness, and urban/office friendly look (ie not too much molle). Any suggestions? One that caught my eye was the Vertx EDC Ready pack since Vertx harnesses are reportedly super comfy.

Edit: Also considering the Dragon Egg II. Any comments on the comfort?

You could try replacing the straps with Kifaru Xray straps

But if you're replacing the Evade look at the Osprey Pandion, Nebula, and Parsec

Interesting idea re. new straps. Will look into that, although they'll be a different color and I suspect the issue is as much with the Evade's yoke (or lack thereof) as the straps themselves. Not a huge fan of Osprey packs, although they are relatively comfortable in my limited experience, and I would like some limited, preferably interior, molle or loop areas since I have a few pouches that I use for various quick-access items

The straps are incompatible, I've tried. 1/2" off. Looked into getting a 2" to 1.5" buckle, but in the end it wasn't really worth it.

It took a bit to get the straps comfy, but I got there.

The Xray straps have 2" sliders but the 1.5" webbing from the Evade will work. They can have a bit of lateral slip, but I found them comfortable.

I use a Hill People Tarainsert or TAD Admin Panel for that. Also makes things modular.

That said, I'm considering adding loop material to my Evade.

I just started using a greenroom136 rainmaker in place of my Evade. I love my Evade but it was starting to feel like it was too big for my daily use and commute into NYC and the straps always bothered me a bit. Ended up coming accross the rainmaker and figured I would give it a shot so I had one custom built. So far I find it very comfortable and a good size for everything I carry and I really like the straps

No problems. I mean, you're importing it, but they rely so much of grassroots and word of mouth that they have really good customer service in order to survive.

They are an option to add. Not standard. I added them to mine

Yeah, they didn't have the option prior to the last few months.

Does anyone know if the sidepocket option fits a 1L nalgene?
