As to me, I ordered both the beavertail and molle panel for my Evade 2.0, and well, both are still sitting in the closest (unused). The reason for getting them is that I had the same game plan for the beavertail to use it for a jacket, etc. Well, I end up just shoving the jacket in to the shockcord outside. This helps to eliminate some of the overall height for me when shoving under an airline seat. As to the molle panel, I wanted to use it for attaching pouches to back panel of the bag...yet ended up never doing that. More than anything, I end up using the d-hooks/panels which are intended for the matroskya pouches. They just happen to work for me and my purpose.
Thanks all for the replies, didn't anticipate so many replies! Looking forward to the 1.5. I think I'll pass on the beavertail, I think I can survive without for now and use the shock cord. Sent from my SM-N950W using Tapatalk
News from Helm concerning the current status on Evade 1.5's Preorder and Shipping... Quick Update: "We’ve started getting invoices out for the pre-orders but we are doing so in batches and tagging ‘em to packs coming off the production line. I know everyone is anxiously waiting for their Evade 1.5s but just bear with us a tad bit more as we get to your individual orders. Thanks!.........Helm"
To the Evade 2 owners out there... How have you felt your choice of colour has held up since you purchased it? I’ve ordered the 1.5 in Wolf Grey 500D but wondering if it will fade or mark easily. I’ve seen a few photos of the EV2 where the zipper looks a little pinkish, but it may just be the camera and lighting. Is the straight black a better option? I’m not convinced I like the diamond ripstop pattern enough to buy it, though the Navy Ripstop seems good. However I’ve only seen the Navy from the rear, not the front. Please help me make up my mind. thanks!
I believe color fading in nylon is greatly influenced by how much it is exposed to UV radiation (sunlight), and certainly if fades much faster than polyester when exposed to sun. I have a backpack that faded over a few weeks of exposure to sunlight filtered by a window (which also had a insect screen outside of it!). The backpack was hanging next to this window and received only 1-2 hrs of morning sunlight. I learned a valuable lesson. Here is a link on a comparison of nylon vs. polyester fabrics with respect to their resistance to water, fire and sun: https://www.jasonmills.com/blog/index.php/2019/02/28/nylon-vs-polyester/ Raul PS. My preorder is on Evade 1.5 Lite in 1050 black ballistic nylon - relatively heavy (about 0.5 lbs more than 500d - see first page on this thread for that info), but will take a lot more abuse in my line of work (agriculture/horticulture - I spend a lot of time outdoors).
I have a Goruck bag that uses cordura fabric and that has faded over time. However I have the original EV in diamond ripstop and it still looks the same as the day I got it. I’ve used it a lot more than my Goruck. I prefer the diamond rip stop for its lighter weight and that it seems to attract less pet hair and dirt. Either choice you go with you will have an excellent quality and the bag will hold up to daily use for years to come. If anything buy it in multiple materials like I did on the first EV . I agree. I really like it too! I know some don't prefer it for whatever reason(s)... not into the pattern, or it looks a bit "informal" for business use? Personally, DRB has been great for EDC! It's very nice against a multitude of clothes and fabrics. I appreciate that it's never been abrasive in the least. I keep coming back to it for the fact that it always stays nice looking. I like the technical diamond patterning, and it has a wonderful "hand feel"... smooth. I'm sure we could go on and on. For that matter, I like all the fabrics Helm is offering, and any would be a nice choice. Ha! Deciding is not easy for sure... So many great options like 500D and 1050D too. Still, I think I'll always have some diamond ripstop in the mix. And now it comes in Wolf Grey! Oh la la, Je suis amoureux!! Sorry, I realize this might not answer anyone's question about... which one should I get. I just like talking about the DRB. I like the sound of that!
My daily Evade 2.0 in 1050D has not faded. Sure, it has some marks but nothing that detracts from overall look. I like this talk of numerous bag purchases. That's my game plan...a 1050D to match and a 420D (or similar). That's all hoping the wife allows for it. hahaha.
Thanks for the advice guys. Still not sure which way to go, but the last pics Helm posted of Ripstop did look pretty cool. Haven’t told the Minister of Finance yet, but I added a typhon Chio to my order too. It is Christmas after all!
So Helm is sending batches of invoices based on what is done. Can you let us know what you had ordered and anyone else who has been invoiced maybe do the same? Maybe then we might guess what batch is being worked on. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
What sender email address used? Just want to make sure it doesn’t end up in my junk folder. Also which version did you end up preceding? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The invoice email came from admin@alphaoneniner.com. I chose the 500D wolf grey with laptop compartment.
