Anyone heard anything yet?
Not today, but I'm not concerned.
Received a comm from Alpha One Niner this evening. If you preordered... Check your box...
Helm has sent out a pre confirmation email explaining all the details on the EV1.5's preorder release.
Evade 1.5 will release in two phases and ship out in "batches":
First Phase: 500D in all the solid colors, 420D diamond ripstop.
Second phase: 1050D Ballistic Nylon, 500D in the camouflages.
So, as always, this is going to be an exercise in patience!
Yeop, got my confirmation email this evening discussing two different batches based upon selections/choices.
Also, if Helm comes up with extra EV1.5 in 420D or 500D, I may pick one up along with my 1050D. Just have to wait and see.
Hmm... I don't think that's an unreasonable plan. It was tough to narrow it down to a simple choice between 2 pack versions and 14 fabric choices. That's 28 possible unique selections!
I’m still waiting for weight specs of each material before deciding on which pack(s) to buy...can anyone share yet??
Yea, so many choices. Why does Helm do this to us....haha. There are plenty of color choices that would be nice, yet I pretty generic when it comes to colors....basic black. Black is under the radar, not over the top, which helps for something used for office carry and traveling.
Helm emailed you say 420d ripstop was 3.6 lbs
Thanks for the 411, I really waiting to see the weight of the 1050D BNB...ripstop is 3.6lbs, 500d options are 3.8 lbs (hopefully still) and 1050D is a huge ???
500D also confirmed at 3.8lbs
Got my pre-confirmation message a couple days ago. I have been checking my email like crazy waiting for the next one.
Yep, same here.
I haven’t received an email yet
I'm sure with the volume of orders, it'll take some time to get through them all. I did get a response on an order change, but no invoice yet either. I'm betting sometime this week. It will be worth the wait!!
Quick question, how useful is the beavertail? I wouldn't be carrying helmets, more thinking along the lines of carrying bulky items like my sons snowpants to and from daycare, or say stuff around an airport (to free up hands).
Saw some videos online of other beavertails but most people carry helmets.
Thanks in advance.

I have an Evade 2.0 with the beavertail. I think it’s well-executed and works well for its purpose. But I don’t use it often.
I have the 2.0 without a beaver tail. If I had a helmet, I’m sure one would come in handy, tho. For me, the cinch line (whatever it’s called) does just fine for securing a clothing layer when I’m traveling, get hot, and want to shed a layer. That’s about all I use it for. YMMV.
What better way to pass the time than talking about gear... while waiting for gear (the EV1.5's) to show up!
I find the beavertail is nice to have and can be extended using some additional parts to hold larger gear or bags. Also, the Evade 2.0 (EV1.5) introduced the two (external) bottom 1" cargo straps for securing items on the outside. You could even remove the bottom cargo straps and lace up some Paracord/shockcord to the 4 web loops with a cord lock to attach something to the bottom as well. The shock cord on the front of the Evade can also be laced up half way for a different way to hold soft goods on the front of the pack. Experimentation encouraged!
I always appreciate all those attachment loops around the perimeter of the Evade. With a bit of creativity you can get a lot of extra utility for attaching stuff... even without the BT.
As others have stated, for your purposes, I think the front shockcord lacing or bottom gear straps would work fine. I’ve even done a smaller stuffsack on the front of my EV2 using just the shockcord and worked fine.
I have the 2.0 w/ beavertail (I bought it to use as a travel bag). The beavertail works great for holding a lightweight jacket, raincoat, etc.
