It took awhile but we finally are getting our new CHIO bag launched today. The Chio was designed to be a smaller carry option for those of us looking for something more compact that your backpack. Here's a link to the Chio page on Alpha One Niner: https://alphaoneniner.squarespace.com/shop/chio-bag For our fellow forum members, please use code 'CHIO-EDC-15' for a 15% discount on the Chio. Here's the video we just uploaded on YouTube. Please feel free should you have any questions. Thanks and our best wishes to one and all for the holidays!
These look great Helm! Just in time for the Holidays too. Glad to see the internal velcro options. I'm looking forward to getting a hold of one soon. Thanks for keeping us informed. Rf
Yes I will. I will try to get some new photos done to day and get this up on the store. Hang tight and I will revert on this. Thanks!
Thanks RF. I am working to see if I can eventually get the detachable organizer for the next gen Evade to fit onto that loop panel in the Chio. This will make a difference I think.
That sounds great. Also, I think loop velcro on the side walls and end caps would open up the possiblity of configuring them with various hook admin panels and pouches as needed. Organization and indexing potential of quick grab items could be limitless. Rf
Helm if you have the chance... Could you post the internal dimensions of the ccw pocket? I'm hoping to fit a 5x10 panel in there. Rf
RF, the loop panel in that back zippered compartment is approximately 6" x 12" so it will fit your panel.
I guess the CHIO is still too new for some in-depth reviews, but I had some questions about it that are not immediately apparent on the product page: -How wide is the shoulder strap? It does look like I'd need to get my own shoulder strap pad for it... -The main compartment is just one big sack with one pouch for organization? -I think Helm mentioned working on an organizer that works with both the CHIO and the E&E v2? This organizer would velcro into the rear zippered compartment? -I'm guessing no chance this will ever be offered in that wonderful ripstop nylon that the E&E comes in?
While we are in the middle of the "bomb cyclone" in Massachusetts, the USPS delivered my CHIO bag first thing in the morning! Somehow I missed the discount coupon but still super happy with the bag and camera insert. The Kryptek Typhon looks really nice. Both bags are smaller than I thought but that's a good thing for an EDC bag. My MBP 13 inch fits inside, but without padding, obviously. More review to come.
Guys sorry for the delayed reply. Am currently overseas, back at the studio working on the new products. 1. The shoulder strap is 1.5" wide. Personally I have had no issues running the Chio without a pad BUT I can see instances where this might be an issue if you're carrying quite a bit of weight in there. The Chio looks small but don't let that fool you 'cos I have carried quite a bit in it. 2. Yes the main compartment is one big space other than the zippered sleeve pouch on the back wall. Now the Chio has 5 zippered pockets externally and that's quite a bit of space to carry a bunch of stuff. That leaves the main compartment for an iPad / tablet and your other gear. 3. Yes I have the new organizer being developed right now, mostly for the Evade 2.0 but it is going to fit perfectly in the Chio and another pack that I am currently working on for Sneaky Bags. It is going to 6" H x 10" W and it starts with a flat zippered sleeve pocket and below that 2 open top pouch and finally an elastic (1") on elastic (2') webbing combo. I'm not sure if this is going to work until we do a final test run with it. We might have to revise it for the Chio. 4. I've slotted production for the Chio in other fabrics including the ripstop.
Wait what? Man not cool. Sorry about that PKS. I'm going to refund the difference. It may not be much but that's my commitment to our forum. On the subject of size, I spent the last year figuring out exactly what it is that I really need to carry in my EDC bag. Granted that I spent most of my time overseas, there are certain items that I can't have in it. And given the work I do, an iPad Pro with a Brydge keyboard would suffice. So it's generally a question of carrying the most essential of essentials and I have somehow manage to reduce my own personal clutter to a minimum. I have no doubt things will change but for now the Chio serves me very well
Helm, this organizer panel sounds like a versatile dimension, I'm hoping to use this in a few other bags too. I'm hoping for a series of hooked back pouches if thats possible, like diff sizes nylon pouches, some with clear pvc front windows, like your tsa clear kit bag. Rf
Our sample room is working on this right now so I'm waiting to get my hands on the first prototype so that I can test it out. I'm somewhat concern that it may be 'too much' for that back zippered pocket of the Chio but with any product development, you wouldn't know until you give it a go. Dan from Sneaky Bags also works out of this studio and he just developed some new Matros that I think are pretty neat. These new ones have a clear front, mesh sides and a Velcro removable back in selected colored fabrics. This could what you're looking for. I have to check with him and see when he plans to get these launched.
Yes that's in realm of the idea, LBT, LBX, and Haley Strategic have made similar ones. http://lbtinc.com/bbpk/bkp/pkacc http://lbxtactical.lbtinc.com/pk/inserts https://www.haleystrategic.com/equipment/packs-and-bags/pack-accessories Would be nice. I guess these would fit better into the Evade 2.0 project perhaps. Thanks for the heads up on the new Matros! Rf
Thanks Helm for the refund! Not needed but much appreciated! I took the bag out for a test run this weekend and it worked great. Will post a quick writeup in the bags forum.

Hi, very impressed, but I need some solid colour ways. Any word on restocks/new colour variants, and drop schedules?
