We got to use the Nikon 10X50 binocular last night, to great success!!! We lashed the binocular to a tripod using some paracord, and mounted a digital camera to a second tripod. Then we aimed the camera through the binocular eyepiece at the supermoon. Got a great shot!!! The optics on the Nikon are simply spectacular. We also used a newer Busnell 16X roof binocular. When the moon was almost fully eclipsed, the Nikon was still going strong, showing a blood red moon and lots of craters. The Bushnell was no longer able to focus or show any detail, and colors were completely washed out. The extra money spent on the Nikon was worth the expense for last night's event alone. 4 hours straight of pure optical joy, looking at every conceivable detain on the moon. It was an awesome experience to share with the family.
