yah, I subscribe to all of those!! I built both my rifle and pistol from the ground up and found those forums invaluable for research and answering questions. I put a 11.5" barrel on my 'pistol' just for reliability purposes!
If you buy a lower to build as a pistol, remember to register it as a pistol. A rifle may not be turned into a pistol without registering it as a SBR.
(Since 2008) A virgin lower is to be transferred on a 4473 as "other" and nothing else, per ATF and the instructions on the form. Question 18; instructions for #18 at the bottom of page 5 on the pdf form you can view on the ATF page.
Well, this thread hasn't seen the light of day for a year. Time for an update. I bought a lower and a matching upper from a LGS, both are made by Aero Precision. I also bought a lower parts kit from the same manufacturer. I think I need a buffer kit to complete the lower.
Coming along nicely, SMAJ. Fully assembled lower, minus buffer and spring. And here is the upper, with forward assist and dust cover installed, but nothing else. Fits like a glove.

Thanx for the reminder SMAJ. The lowers are the only thing I'll buy locally to avoid extra charges from FFL. Everything else can come through the mail.

Its a website, they sell bulk ammo. You can also look on gunbot, they have a pretty up to date list of ammo prices. 300AAC is expensive to shoot! gotta find the best deals lol
