Pits are masters at climbing a wall. If a dog gets out more than once in a blue moon, it's owners don't deserve and shouldn't have a dog.

The dog getting in the yard actually does not bother me and maybe Rufus needs to be less of a hermit.

The only concern is the kids coming to get their dog might end up letting my dogs out or if I keep things padlocked they will be wanting me to get their dog for them several times a day.

I bet you people are freaking about because they see a pit walking around too.. But as you can see first hand Jon, he is obviously friendly lol!!! My neighbors when I lived in VA, used to have two pits they rescued, they would climb to the top of the fence and sit there and watch everything that was going on, but never actually jumped over it.

But on the bright side, at least you know who to return the dog to.

Also, have we ever seen a picture of you Jon!!?? Lol

The last part is why enough is enough, and you have much, much more patience than I do.

I had not realized that pits were good climbers. This dog is not very big, I think it is a puppy.

I think it is just wanting a dog friend and decided Rufus was going to be his buddy.

The first time I saw a cat climbing without resorting to claws was a revelation and made it apparent that they can probably get into a lot of places most people wouldn't think they could. I expect many dogs have their own hidden tricks for climbing.

Its a beautiful looking dog. I am glad the owners were located, But it sounds like you have a little playmate for Rufus.

Sounds like a case of the dog being smarter than the owner, if they can't give it the attention it is obviously seeking, should give it to someone who can.

Johnny Carson had a guest once with a pit who climbed trees. Cajun, IIRC.

Rufus cannot afford a playmate right now.

He is for all practical purposes walking on three legs. One of his back legs is not working right and I cannot take him to a vet.

He is the youngest of the three dog I have. He was actually Denises dog. I got him I think a couple months into the forum starting and I think he was a year old then. My favorite dog died at 14 or 15 some months back.

I don't think I am going to be able to get him vet care.

You should look into carecredit, we use it for our dogs when we don't have the money.

Understandable, sometimes help just makes things worse. I wish you the best, and hope Rufus gets better!
