I wanted a replacement for my winchester 1300 HD gun and I had a few Remington parts laying around, my 3-gun shotgun is a 1100. So with a dremel, some parts, and a box stock 870 this is what I came up with:

870 18in bbl
Mesa Tactical 8 shot side saddle w/ rail
Remington mag extension +2
speedfeed stock
EoTech w GG&G throw lever mount
Trijcon oversize tritium bead.
Bownells aluminum mag follower
Wilson Combat oversize saftey
Ergo rail
streamlight trl1

I had to cut the forearm to work with the side saddle, and then drill it to accept the rail. I also had to remove quite a bit of material on the inside for the rail hardware. The mesa tactical piece is the best I have ever seen, its all aluminum instead of plastic. I ran a few boxes of shells threw her and she runs like a dream. The centurion loads (1 .65 round ball & 6 #1 buck) are what I keep in the tube but if you look closely you will see some 3in OO buck and some slugs are readily at hand.

Nice! So the stock actually holds shells inside? How many?

4... two on each side. it has two tubes inside just like the magazine tube of a shotgun.

Nice! Gotta love the Remington - rock solid and easy to accessorize.
Just put together a similar one to that. Took it out last week to break it in and shot down a tree.

NICE!!! I have an 870 with a synthetic stock with the tubes. These are great if you want to carry a variety of loads but don't want to use a side carrier. For example, I load with 00 for short and mid range encounters but I keep slugs in the stock in the event that I need that quick tactical load for a long range or hard to penetrate target. Again, good stuff. I am always intrigued by people's creativity and inginuity.

O0 This is a great setup. My only suggestion would be a sling. I would suggest a Wilderness tactical single point sling, using a GG&G attachment. Believe me, the extra $50.00 or so is worth it.

Nice.
