Thanks, this one open up to half inch, some of the older ones didn't. I bought it new about three years ago.

I hadn't been able to find more of the ~3" one as shown in my post #2. Is it one of those toy ones??? (I've seen keychain wrenches, hammers, and tape measures about that size.)

I have a couple of them (one came in a small "kit" with swapable screwdriver set). No idea where they came from though.

Hmm... alright, thanks. :) I'll continue keeping an eye out for them. I'd hate to only be able to get them in a kit though.

OK, just checked. One of them is from a local auto-parts store. A promotional item. Probably could find them at auto parts stores, hardware stores and maybe dollar stores.

One thing to note that you will see in the pictures below is that the Taiwan version that came in the kit is more robust than the Hong Kong/AutoPartsStore version. The Taiwan one is probably usable with the Hong Kong being more novelty.

    Unfortunately, I don't have any 4" tools.:(

I do, however have a few tools that I use that are less than 6" (well the knipex pliers are 6.5"). These wrenches have a ratchet head on them so you don't have to lift the wrench off of the nut while using it.[IMG]

    Now you've done it,cowsmilk!
Knew it was inevitable, before I scanned down to the bottom of your picture.

I just knew somebody was gonna lead us into Temptation, with a Knipex.
I got the 7.5" Knipex first, then had to have the newest 6"....their ad is right on....it has enough torque to crush small gravel...Opens to >1"...
Which lead me to add the 6" Knipex Cobra....

Run while ya'll can.....4" crescent wrenches are the gateway drug.....then you get hooked on the hard stuff....

( Do as I say! and NOT as I do! )

    now you've gone & done it,fer sure!

Avoid the Knipex with the ergo over-padded handles.....too large a footprint, for EDC packs.

Good for regular tool box but like you said too thick for EDC carry.

Found them, model number 87 01 125. You are right, they are tiny at 150mm long! I have got to get a pair for my personal toolkit. I use the 10" cobra pliers in the above picture at work. Nearly 10 years in an industrial setting and still going strong. Boy does Knipex make good stuff!

Check out the 86 03 150 Knipex 6 inch Micro PLIERS WRENCH Too. Sorry I copied and pasted this but if you click on it you go no where. But google it. Go to chadstoolbox.com and its about $36. Not affiliated in anyway just a customer. They even have a set with the other Knipex.

Most of the 3in cresent wrenches I've seen are cheapies, but I have seen some older Proto and Plumb branded versions.

Just not been able to purchase one as of yet.

The most used tool in my kit is the Vise-Grip, been carrying one of those in my pocket for years, grew up in a car wrecking yard.

As I mentioned in another thread....I checked out my local Lowes for 4" tools. NONE! I asked an employee about it and he said that a lot of plumbers come in and buy up one of each of their 4 and 6" tools. So times that by the average of around 5 plumbing companies in my area. Which is strange because I was always under the impression plumbers (at least the unionized ones) HAVE to buy things from certain contracted companies. At least that's what my electrician friend told me for electricians. But then again it's not like the Plumbing Police go around making sure people buy from the contracted tool companies.

Ideally I would like 4" Channel Lock, 4" Crescent Wrench and a 4" Slip Joints.
