Here is my latest addition, a diamond in the rough, I found it at a yard sale for 50 cents. In the pic It has a plastic dipped handle which I removed, and it's super cruddy. I cleaned it up, left the orange/yellow paint, and added a paracord wrapping to the handle. It will fit up to a 1/2" nut. I love finding a good deal!! I will post an updated picture here at some point....lol

Here it is cleaned up, with a new coat. I really like the orange/yellow patina from years ago.

Nice work! I would have never attempted to salvage a tool that looked that cruddy. Looks like it was definitely worth the effort.

Nice wrap! I recently had a 3" given me and a 4" found in a country store. Both virtually brand new. I say that because the 3" was out of a package and had gone through a house fire and the 4", though in packaging, was old, dusty, and the platsic pack was yellowed. I've been looking for a 4" and finally got one.
Great find! Love to see it salvaged!

I have carried a 4"adjustable on my keyring for at least 25 years. This along with a small vice grip in my pocket comprised the core of my EDC for years. It is mind boggling at how many uses a little wrench can be put to.

This thread finally prompted me to pick up a 4" ChannelLock. Despite knowing the length, I had always assumed that they were a lot thicker than they actually are. It looks like it may finally displace my Piranha for EDC wrench duties.

I think I'll do the same. I use Channel Locks a lot, and needed a 4" version the other day. Hmmm...day off...I might just make a trip to the Channel Lock gettin' place:)

4" tools defiantly have a place in edc. I am glad to have come across mine.

After reading this thread you guys forced me to buy a pair of 4 inch Channellocks. I should have them by the end of week.

I went to Lowe's and Home Depot and they didn't have them. I could swear I see them all the time. Must be in a supply house. I'll try again before I order them on the web.

I've checked both places here and no luck so I ordered one from Ebay about the cheapest I found, $11.95 plus shipping. Some places are just rediculous with the price, like one place for almost $40. Now that's a ripoff. I use Channellocks for lots of things and a few you probably shouldn't.

I've been carrying a 4" Channellock for about a year now and it's well worth it. I got it from Amazon. The reason I bought it was, I had a Snap-on double ended wrench that was about 4" long with 1/2" and 9/16" on either end that I lost. I carried it for about 10 years and was very useful but could not find a replacement. In a lot of ways the 4" adjustable is more useful. I think it cost around $10 or so and I hesitated on getting it at first but I'm glad I did. I use it all the time and have thought about buying a second one for backup. I did end up grinding it down a bit so it was a bit easier to carry in my Skinth.

That is a sweet set of tools! How large does the 4" crescent open to? 1/2" or so?

Years ago I read a thread about taking out the adjustment screw, and filing it down till it opened to true 1/2".

The Channellock opens up to just a hair over 9/16". I use 1/2" a lot but run into 9/16" on occasion.
